What water level is suitable for river shrimp farming?
AbstractFor river shrimp at the seedling stage, the water level should be around 60cm; in the middle and late stages of farming, the water level should be above 1.5m, and about 5cm of water needs to be changed every day, with live bacteria added to keep the water fresh. River shrimp farming should be kept away from wastewater pollution sources; the shrimp pond is best built in a location with good lighting and ventilation, and the pond should be disinfected in advance before the seedlings are released, with measures taken to prevent escape and keep wild trash fish from entering the pond.
1. Changes in water level during river shrimp farming
When farming river shrimp, the water level should be kept at around 60cm at the seedling stage, and about 4cm of water should be added each day in the early stage of farming until the water level reaches 1.5m. In the middle and late stages of farming, about 5cm of water needs to be changed daily; to keep the pond water fresh, live bacteria can be added to condition the water.
2. Principles for turning on the aerator
When farming river shrimp, turning on the aerator should follow the “four on, three off” principle. Four on means: turn it on at noon on clear days, turn it on the next day when it is overcast, turn it on at midnight if there is continuous overcast and rainy weather, and turn it on 2 hours before and after feeding. Three off means: do not turn it on after sunrise, do not turn it on in the evening, and do not turn it on at noon on overcast days. In addition to following these principles, the aerator should also be turned on reasonably according to changes in season, weather and water quality, so as to ensure the survival rate of river shrimp.
3. Maintaining stable algae
During river shrimp farming, the transparency and pH of the water body should be well controlled, salinity should be used appropriately, and beneficial bacteria can be added in appropriate amounts so that the algae can grow stably.
4. Use of water quality protection agents
During the farming of whiteleg shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei), attention should be paid to improving the dissolved oxygen in the water; the algae phase and pH value should be well controlled and kept from changing as much as possible; ammonia nitrogen and nitrite need to be reduced, so as to reduce the harmful substances produced after organic matter hydrolysis.
5. Use of live bacteria
During the farming of whiteleg shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei), the use of live bacteria in water management is indispensable. Microbial agents should be used regularly to promote the balance of beneficial organisms in the water body and inhibit the occurrence of bacteria.
6. Use of disinfectants
During river shrimp farming, the water body should be disinfected regularly, so as to prevent harmful substances in the water from multiplying and causing pollution, which is not conducive to the growth of the shrimp.
7. Regularly test water body indicators
During farming, the water body should be managed and tested regularly; the pH value, ammonia nitrogen, nitrite, hydrogen sulfide, etc. in the water body should be monitored in a timely manner, and any abnormality should be dealt with promptly, so as not to affect the growth of the shrimp.
