Can black carp be raised in a fish pond? The pond area should not be too large, and other fish species can be raised together
SummaryBlack carp can be raised in a fish pond, but the pond should be built close to a water source and in an unpolluted place, the area should not be too large, and it must be ensured that it does not leak. The fry should be high-quality varieties with no wounds on the body and with vitality; such fry have a higher survival rate. Fry stocking is suitable in February each year, and a small number of other fish species can be stocked together, which can help purify the pond water quality.
1. Breeding environment
Black carp is most suitable for pond farming. The selected pond should be close to a water source and unpolluted, and the pond area should not be too large and should not leak. After choosing the breeding environment, all the water in the pond should be drained, then the silt and debris should be cleaned out. After cleaning, expose it to the sun for a few days to kill pathogens, then disinfect it. After that, put about 22cm of water into the pond and sprinkle quicklime powder on it. After about 2 days, fill the pond with water and put in the fry. The breeding pond must be equipped with oxygen supply equipment to aerate when the fry are short of oxygen, reducing the death of black carp.
2. Selecting fry
The selected fry should be free of disease, energetic, and have no wounds on the body, and should also be fry with a relatively large food intake. Good-quality fry also have a higher survival rate during breeding. When selecting fry, choose fry of similar size, and try not to exceed 2cm, because if the size difference among fry is large, they are prone to competing for food when feeding. To prevent the fry from carrying pathogens on their bodies, it is best to disinfect the fry before putting them into the pond.
The temperature in February is a relatively suitable season for fry stocking. At that time, the fish scales of the fry are tighter, and stocking will not cause harm to the fry's bodies. During stocking, a small number of other fish species can be raised together, which can purify the pond water quality.
3. Reasonable feeding
Some aquatic algae plants can be appropriately planted in the fish pond. Such plants can perform good photosynthesis on sunny days. Food feeding can be carried out at fixed times and locations. After a long time, black carp will develop a physiological response, and these feeds should also be changed regularly to avoid insufficient nutrition. The amount of food fed each time should not be too much, to avoid polluting the water quality and producing unpleasant gases after fermentation.
4. Later management
During the breeding period, observe the surrounding environment and the growth and development of the black carp every morning and evening in a timely manner. If any abnormality occurs, deal with it immediately. Pay attention to the pond temperature and pH, and increase the frequency of water changes in summer. If conditions permit, a sunshade can be built above the fish pond, and some tall trees can also be planted around the pond to reduce harm to the black carp from strong sunlight in summer.
