The most important thing in river shrimp farming is water quality; timely aeration and active disinfection are needed
AbstractChoose a place with abundant and clear water sources to build a pond, with an area of 3 mu as suitable, water depth controlled at about 1.2-1.5m, plant an appropriate amount of aquatic plants around the pond to provide shade and habitat for river shrimp, install anti-escape facilities at the pond's inlet and outlet, carry out disinfection and fertilization work on the pond before releasing the seedlings, put the desalinated river shrimp into the pond in late May, feed a reasonable mix of animal and plant feed, persist in patrolling the pond every day, monitor water quality, add and change water in time, and begin rotational harvesting in September.
Methods of river shrimp farming
1. Pond selection and construction
River shrimp have relatively high requirements for water quality. It is best to farm river shrimp in places with abundant water sources and no pollution. Sandy soil with little silt is suitable for the pond. The pond area should be controlled at about 3 mu, and a water depth of about 1.2 m to 1.5 m is sufficient. Plant an appropriate amount of aquatic plants around the pond to provide shade and concealment for river shrimp. Install 2.5 cm specification dense nets at the pond's inlet and outlet to prevent river shrimp from escaping.
2. Disinfection and fertilization
One month before releasing the shrimp seedlings, drain the water in the pond, splash a certain proportion of quicklime into the pond for disinfection. Seven days before releasing the shrimp seedlings, filter with a 60-80 mesh sieve silk net, inject 30 cm of water into the pond, then apply base fertilizer at a ratio of 50 kg/mu or 5 kg/mu of urea into the pond to promote the reproduction and growth of plankton in the pond.
3. Shrimp seedling release
Release the shrimp seedlings in late May. Before release, first desalinate the shrimp seedlings. The release density is suitably 80,000 per mu. To ensure healthy growth of the shrimp seedlings, it is best to equip the pond with an aerator.
4. Feed feeding
River shrimp are omnivorous animals. They feed on zooplankton, algae, copepods, small aquatic insects, organic debris, filamentous algae, attached algae, invertebrates, etc. During artificial rearing, animal feed such as snail and mussel meat, earthworms, small trash fish, and silkworm pupae can be fed in combination to ensure balanced and sufficient nutrition.
5. Daily management
During the rearing process, monitor water quality every day to ensure the water is clear and clean. When the temperature is relatively high, change the water frequently. Apply an appropriate amount of quicklime into the pond every 15 days for disinfection to promote shell shedding and growth of the shrimp seedlings. From August to October each year, the climate changes greatly, and the stock of river shrimp in the pond increases sharply, making oxygen deficiency very likely in the pond. Turn on the aerator in time to ensure healthy growth of the river shrimp.
6. Timely harvesting
Each September, rotational harvesting of the river shrimp in the pond can begin. Capture commercial shrimp with a specification of 4.5 cm or more for sale on the market, and keep the smaller shrimp to continue growing.
Nutritional value and effects of river shrimp
1. River shrimp have very high nutritional value and are rich in magnesium, which can regulate the human heart, protect the cardiovascular system, reduce cholesterol content in the blood, prevent and treat arteriosclerosis, and can also dilate the coronary arteries, with a certain preventive effect on high blood pressure and myocardial infarction.
2. River shrimp have the effects of tonifying the kidney and strengthening yang, and resisting aging, and have a certain therapeutic effect on conditions such as kidney deficiency and impotence, aversion to cold, bodily fatigue, and soreness and pain in the waist and knees.
3. The shrimp skin of river shrimp has a sedative effect and has a therapeutic effect on conditions such as neurasthenia and autonomic nervous dysfunction.
4. Grind 500g of fresh shrimp meat and take it heated with yellow rice wine, 3 times a day. It has a lactation-promoting effect and can treat women with little or no milk after childbirth.
5. River shrimp contain astaxanthin, which can effectively eliminate jet lag caused by time zone changes.
