The mandarin fish farming cycle is divided into 3 stages: fry rearing, fingerling rearing and grow-out farming
AbstractThe mandarin fish farming cycle is mainly divided into the fry rearing stage, the fingerling rearing stage and the grow-out farming stage. Fry rearing stage: artificial induced spawning and artificial incubation are carried out. Fingerling rearing stage: after the mandarin fish fry hatch out of the membrane, a sieve net should be used to screen out the egg membrane, dead eggs and other debris, and then the fry are divided into ponds by size for rearing. Grow-out farming stage: feed reasonably, control stocking density and actively prevent disease.
1. Mandarin fish fry rearing stage
The environment during the mandarin fish fry rearing stage is very important. The water quality of the fish pond must be clear, not turbid, and some submerged aquatic plants should also be placed on the pond bottom. Acidic ponds and pond water that easily becomes turbid cannot be used to rear mandarin fish fry. Before the mandarin fish fry are put in, the fish pond must be disinfected, and then some water can be conditioned to rear forage fish.
2. Fry rearing stage
Artificial induced spawning and artificial incubation must be carried out. The artificial induced spawning period is generally from April to September, and the amount of spawning-inducing drug used must also be adjusted according to differences in weather, water quality and water. During incubation, special attention must be paid to water temperature; the water quality requires sufficient oxygen content, and the water flow speed must be kept at 1-2 m per second. Newly hatched mandarin fish fry are only about 4mm long, and after artificial rearing they can grow to about 30mm.
3. Fingerling rearing stage
After the mandarin fish fry hatch out of the membrane, a sieve net should be used to screen out the egg membrane, dead eggs and other debris, and at this stage the fry can only swim up and down, not horizontally, so live fish that have just hatched out of the membrane must be prepared as forage fish, such as Thai carp, Indian carp and so on. The water needs to be changed and disinfected every day to keep the rearing pond clean; coarse salt and dibromohydantoin are better disinfectants to use.
Mandarin fish fry must be divided into ponds by size for rearing. After about twelve days, the mandarin fish fry can grow to a body length of about 4cm. At this time, the mandarin fish that have reached 4cm need to be sorted and sold.
4. Commercial mandarin fish farming
Commercial mandarin fish farming mainly requires attention to feed management, stocking density and disease prevention. The mandarin fish is a carnivorous fish, so some small fish, small shrimp and other plankton must be prepared, but in order for the mandarin fish to grow more fully, a moderate amount of feed should also be given. However, each time feed is given, the leftover feed from the previous feeding must be removed to prevent it from decomposing in the pond and causing the mandarin fish to ingest it by mistake and become infected with disease.
5. Suggestions
The mandarin fish has relatively strong resistance and generally will not become diseased, but during the farming process there will be a large number of parasites and bacteria, so we must regularly disinfect the pond, clear out the bacteria in the fish pond, and prevent the mandarin fish from suffering disease.
The density of mandarin fish farming is also a key point that can determine the survival rate of mandarin fish. Generally, one mu of pond can only hold 1000-2000 mu of fry; if too many are put in, it will be difficult to manage and will cause the fry to die, so the number of mandarin fish per mu must also be controlled within a certain range.
