AbstractFor farming grass carp, a water depth of about 2-2.5m is more suitable. You can choose a pond with an area of about 10-20 mu and a silt thickness of less than 20cm. Before releasing the fry, the pond must be cleaned and disinfected well, and high-quality fry should be selected. For every 10 mu, one automatic feeder and one aerator can be configured, and a reasonable feeding method should be adopted to control the occurrence of fish diseases.

1. What water depth is suitable for farming grass carp

Choose a pond with a water depth of about 2-2.5m, an area of 10-20 mu, and a silt thickness of less than 20cm. Equip 1 automatic feeder and 1 aerator with a power of 3KW, configured according to the standard of one set for every 10 mu of pond.

2. Pond cleaning

Do a good job of cleaning the pond. In winter, drain the water in the pond, then freeze and sun-dry it for more than 20 days. 15 days before releasing the fingerlings, when the water temperature is suitable, inject water 10-20cm deep, and use 150 kg of quicklime per mu to clean and disinfect the pond.

3. Time for releasing fry

Release the fry around the Spring Festival. Release 300 grass carp fingerlings per mu, each with a body size of 15-20cm and a weight of 200-250 grams. At the same time, 50 silver carp fingerlings and 10 bighead carp can be released, with each fingerling weighing about 5-6 kg. Before release, they must also be soaked in 5% salt water for 5-10 minutes for disinfection.

4. Feed feeding

1. Mainly feed pelleted feed with a protein content of 28-32%, and in addition, some green feed can be fed as a supplement.

2. Feeding feed should follow the principles of “four fixed and four looking” and “coarse first, fine later”. Feed on average 2 times a day, and it should be eaten within 2 hours, with 80% full being the most suitable.

3. After continuously feeding pelleted feed for a period of time, stop feeding for 1 week. During the stop period, raw grain feed can be fed.

4. In order to avoid grass carp suffering from hepatobiliary syndrome and other diseases, causing death, an appropriate amount of vitamins and other drugs should be added to the feed during regular feeding.

5. Regulating water quality

1. Manage water quality well and use the aerator reasonably. From June to October, on windless sunny days, turn on the aerator for about 2 hours every day from 1 to 3 p.m., and it can be turned on for aeration in the early morning. If it is cloudy for several consecutive days, the aeration time should be earlier.

2. Choose the appropriate time to add new water to the pond. You can adopt the method of draining and adding water in small amounts and changing water multiple times to regulate water quality.

3. From June to September, new water should be added once every 3-5 days, about 10cm each time.

4. Every 15-20 days, use 10-20 kg of quicklime per mu, dissolve it into slurry, and splash it over the entire pond once for a pond with a water depth of 1m.

6. Treatment and prevention of fish diseases

Common diseases of grass carp include bacterial gill rot, red skin disease, and enteritis. The usual treatment method is a combination of external splashing and oral administration.

1. External splashing: mainly use disinfectants such as chlorine dioxide and bleaching powder for cleaning treatment, continuously for 3 days.

2. Oral administration: feed “Sanhuang powder” medicated bait. Sanhuang powder is a powder made by grinding and mixing 50% rhubarb, 30% phellodendron, and 20% astragalus. Mix 0.3 kg of Sanhuang powder with flour paste evenly, then mix it into the feed for 50 kg of fish to eat, continuously feeding for 3-5 days. Adopting a feeding method of coarse first and fine later, combining fine feed and green feed, can also control the occurrence of hepatobiliary syndrome in grass carp.

7. Catching for market

Catching is generally carried out once at the end of July, and it is most suitable to catch in the morning when the water temperature is lower. Catching large-sized adult fish for market in a timely manner is an effective measure to increase output value. Its purpose is to reduce the density in the pond and also to accelerate the growth rate of smaller-sized grass carp.
