Shade boards need to be built over the pond surface, and a small amount of floating aquatic plants can be placed in the pond water. Place the collected fertilized eggs of the black-spotted frog into the disinfected ring ditch of the farming pond for hatching, and keep the water temperature at around 20-25°C. After the black-spotted frog tadpoles hatch, they can be placed in net cages or cultivated in the original hatching pond. Each square meter of water surface can hold 600-800 tadpoles. In the early stage, an appropriate amount of live bait feed can be given, and in the later stage, an appropriate amount of animal feed can be given.

1. Choosing a Frog Pond

Farming ponds are generally divided into spawning ponds, tadpole ponds, and adult frog ponds. They need to be chosen in warm, sun-shaded, and moist places, with earthen ponds or rectangular cement ponds being suitable. Shade boards can be built over the pond surface, and a small amount of floating aquatic plants can be placed in the pond water.

2. Selecting Breeding Frogs

Select breeding frogs that have spawned 2 times, as this will result in a higher fertilization rate. Although female frogs raised for 3-4 years lay a larger number of eggs, the fertilization rate is relatively low, so the spawning rate of frogs in the 1st year is also relatively low.

3. Spawning Time

When farming in southern regions, spawning occurs every year from March to July. When farming in northern regions, the spawning period is delayed. Usually, April is the peak spawning period. The amplexus, mating, and spawning of breeding frogs are affected by local temperature, pond depth, and other factors.

4. Collecting Egg Masses

After the fertilized eggs of the black-spotted frog are collected, they can be placed into the disinfected ring ditch of the farming pond for hatching. The darker part of the egg mass is the animal pole and needs to be placed facing upward, while the whiter part is the vegetal pole and needs to be placed facing downward.

5. Hatching Management

When the black-spotted frog enters the hatching period, the water temperature should be kept at around 20-25°C. If the water temperature suddenly rises by more than 5°C, or if strong vibration occurs, it will cause the black-spotted frog to die. After 2 days of hatching, the frog eggs slightly begin to sway. After 3-4 days, they will turn into the tadpole form, and after about 5 days, small tadpoles will hatch.

6. Raising Tadpoles

After the black-spotted frog tadpoles hatch, they can be cultivated in net cages or in the original hatching pond. Each square meter of water surface can hold 600-800 tadpoles. After being placed, there is no need to feed them for 4-5 days. They generally rely on their own yolk sac for nutrition. After the yolk sac disappears on the 4th day, feed can be given.

7. Raising Young Frogs

For raising young frogs, keep 100-150 per square meter. Feed platforms can be built on the water surface so that young frogs can come onto the platform to feed and rest. First, live bait feed can be used for about 2 days. Later, gradually increase the feeding amount, then transition to artificial feed.

8. Raising Adult Frogs

After young frogs are placed into the adult frog pond, their food intake will gradually increase, so their growth rate will also accelerate. During this period, animal feed can be appropriately increased. After about 30 days of raising, when the weight reaches 100 g, about 30 can be raised per square meter. After about 60 days of raising, 10-15 can be raised per square meter. After a short period of further raising, they can be marketed.
