Jimai 44 is a variety bred after crossing line 954072 with Jinan 17, and it is currently a relatively high-yielding wheat variety, so what is the yield of Jimai 44?

1. Yield of Jimai 44

In the 2015-2017 Shandong Province wheat variety high-fertilizer group regional trial, Jimai 44 had a two-year average yield of 603.7 kg per mu, 2.3% higher than the control variety Jimai 22; in the 2017-2018 high-yield group production trial, the average yield was 540.0 kg per mu, 1.2% higher than the control variety Jimai 22.

2. Characteristics of Jimai 44

Winter type, seedlings semi-prostrate, plant type semi-compact, leaf color light green, flag leaf erect, relatively good lodging resistance, good maturity appearance. Average results of the two-year regional trial: growth period 233 days, 2 days earlier maturing than the control Jimai 22; plant height 80.1 cm, maximum tillers per mu 1.02 million, effective spikes per mu 438,000, tiller spike-forming rate 44.3%; spike rectangular, grains per spike 35.9, 1000-grain weight 43.4 g, test weight 788.9 g/L; long awns, white glumes, white grains, hard grain texture. Results of inoculation identification by the Institute of Plant Protection, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences in 2017: moderately resistant to stripe rust, moderately susceptible to powdery mildew, highly susceptible to leaf rust, Fusarium head blight and sharp eyespot. Overwintering cold resistance is relatively good. In 2016 and 2017, unified sampling in the regional trial and testing by the Ministry of Agriculture Grain Quality Supervision, Inspection and Testing Center (Tai'an) showed average results: grain protein content 15.4%, wet gluten 35.1%, sedimentation value 51.5 ml, water absorption 63.8 ml/100 g, stability time 25.4 min, flour whiteness 77.1, belonging to the strong-gluten variety.

The yield of Jimai 44 is relatively high, and the planting benefit is also fairly good. When planting, attention should be paid to controlling leaf rust, Fusarium head blight and sharp eyespot.
