When do spray chrysanthemums bloom?
Spray chrysanthemum, also known as multi-stem chrysanthemum, is a perennial herbaceous flower of the genus Chrysanthemum in the Asteraceae family, and is one of the four traditional famous flowers of our country. So which month does it bloom? How should it be grown?
Which month do spray chrysanthemums bloom?
The flowering period of spray chrysanthemums varies by variety. For example, the flowering period of early chrysanthemums is in mid-to-late September, and they are generally medium-sized chrysanthemums; the flowering period of late chrysanthemums is in October-November, and they are the most widely cultivated and large-sized autumn chrysanthemums.
How should spray chrysanthemums be grown?
1. Soil
When growing them, use soil with good water retention and drainage, and it should be fertile and rich in nutrients. Sandy soil, leaf mold and cake fertilizer can be mixed together to prepare it; it is best to also mix in an appropriate amount of phosphorus fertilizer and nitrogen fertilizer as a base fertilizer to increase nutrients, so that they can grow more vigorously later.
2. Light
They need 8 hours of light per day, and of course the light duration should not be too long; it is best not to exceed 10 hours. In winter they can receive full-day light, and in summer shading treatment should be carried out to avoid sunburn.
3. Temperature
15-22°C is the optimal growing temperature for spray chrysanthemums.
4. Watering
Spray chrysanthemums are generally watered once every 2-3 days, and the potting soil should preferably remain moist every day. During the rainy period, watering can be appropriately reduced, and watering should be moderate to avoid waterlogging.
5. Fertilizing
From the beginning of September, chrysanthemum growth enters a vigorous period, and the fertilizer requirement increases noticeably. At this time, in addition to daily fertilizing, foliar topdressing should also be applied to the chrysanthemum plants, once every 5 days, until the flower buds are as large as soybeans. Counting from September 1, for the first three times use 2.5 grams of urea and 0.5 grams of magnesium sulfate each time, add 5 liters of water, and spray the plants in the evening. After that, on the basis of this formula, gradually increase monopotassium phosphate, adding 1.5 grams each time for the first three times, then 2 grams each time for the next three times, and thereafter 2.5 grams each time. At the same time, in early September add fertilized soil to the pot up to the plant's first branching point, to induce secondary rooting and increase the ability to absorb nutrients.
Spray chrysanthemums can bloom normally as long as they are cared for properly, so attention must be paid to the care knowledge introduced above.
