Muscat Hamburg grape is a Eurasian species, also translated as Moschato, Hamburg Muscat and other names. Muscat Hamburg is an ancient variety, and its cultivation method is not simple. Today we will introduce the Muscat Hamburg grape cultivation techniques.

I. Planting time

Muscat Hamburg grapes use spring planting, generally carried out from late March to early April. Nutrient bag seedlings are planted in early May. At this time the temperature is suitable, which is conducive to the growth of Muscat Hamburg grapes and improves the survival rate.

II. Seedling treatment

Before planting, first soak the seedling roots in clean water for 10—12 hours, and prune the root system, cutting off overly long, overly thin and damaged roots, then soak the roots in ABT rooting powder or naphthaleneacetic acid NAA solution.

III. Field planting

For trellis cultivation, planting trenches can be dug in a north-south direction according to the row spacing; for pergola cultivation, dig planting trenches in an east-west direction. The planting trench is 80 cm wide and deep. Fill the trench with straw, decomposed organic fertilizer and topsoil, then plant according to the plant and row spacing.

IV. Planting

The planting depth is based on the root crown of the seedling being level with the ground. When planting, the root system should be distributed evenly. When half the soil has been filled in, gently lift the seedling, then carefully fill in the soil, and after it is level with the ground, firm it down, and finally water thoroughly. After the water has seeped away, cover with soil or film.

This Muscat Hamburg grape variety has a very wide distribution of planting area in the world, especially with many plantings in European countries. In China, it was first introduced in 1871 by the American missionary Mr. Ni to Yantai, Shandong, and was again introduced from Western Europe in 1892. It is one of the most widely distributed varieties in China.
