Greenhouse planting is already very common nowadays, but fully mastering greenhouse planting techniques still poses certain difficulties, so today we will introduce the relevant planting knowledge.

1. Land preparation

Before planting crops, the soil should be turned and sufficient base fertilizer applied. Generally, farmyard manure mixed with superphosphate can be used, with short drainage ditches dug so that all ditches connect, preventing water from accumulating in the field after rain.

2. Sowing time

Sowing and raising seedlings should be carried out from the Spring Equinox to Qingming. Before raising seedlings, the seedbed should be watered thoroughly and disinfected. After the seedlings are raised, they should be hardened off outdoors in a timely manner.

3. Reasonable planting out

When planting out, cover the soil shallowly, then gradually earth up and close the ridges. Whether dense planting is suitable depends on the habits of the crop. Set an appropriate row spacing and plant spacing; generally, 2 plants or 3 plants per hole are mostly used.

4. Field management

After planting is completed, appropriate watering, fertilizing and weeding are needed. For example, after the seedlings have recovered, they should be watered in a timely manner; when they reach the vigorous growth stage, they need watering together with fertilizing, but flood irrigation should not be used, to avoid problems caused by overwatering the plants, which can also affect quality and yield.

5. Pest and disease management

Greenhouses are used to grow vegetables most of the time, especially in winter, providing suitable environmental conditions for pests and diseases to overwinter and multiply, which makes vegetable pests and diseases increasingly serious. Therefore, the prevention and control of pests and diseases is also the key to successful vegetable cultivation in greenhouses.
