The dragon bone flower does not have only one name; because it grows fairly tall and its outer appearance looks like a dragon bone, it was named dragon bone flower. It also has another name, liangwuchi, and it also belongs to the cactus family; it has no leaves, and the roots are also fleshy. So how do you grow a dragon bone plant?

1. Soil

The dragon bone flower is a Euphorbiaceae plant. Because it has fleshy roots, the soil must be loose, fertile and well drained. Generally, leaf mold, garden soil and sand can be mixed evenly in a 1:1:1 ratio.

2. Water and fertilizer

Although plants generally like fertilizer and plenty of water, for the dragon bone flower neither fertilizing nor watering should be too much. In spring, you can water the plant on a schedule, watering once every three weeks, but the one thing to do every day is spray water over the whole plant each day to increase the humidity in the air. In summer, water once a day, and you can also trim away the dust on the leaves. In winter, keep the potting soil and the growing air appropriately dry; both the growing environment and the potting soil should stay dry, otherwise it is very easy to freeze the plant in winter. In spring and autumn, fertilize once every thirty days; in winter, fertilizing just once is enough.

3. Light

It needs plenty of sunlight. When the temperature is suitable, it can be placed directly in the sun. When the temperature is above 35°C, provide shade or move it to a cool place with indirect light to avoid scorching the leaves.

4. Pruning

The ordinary dragon bone is a fairly tall plant and can grow to more than ten meters high, so care should be taken during maintenance. If leggy branches appear, promote the growth of side branches to keep it relatively short.
