The peach tree is a small deciduous tree of the order Rosales, family Rosaceae, commonly used as a fruit tree and an ornamental tree. Through horticultural cultivation, peach trees can now also be grown in pots, so what exactly is the potted peach tree growing method?

I. Growth Habits of the Peach Tree

As a small deciduous tree of the order Rosales, family Rosaceae, the peach tree generally grows to 3-8 m tall, and potted peach trees are much shorter. The main commercial cultivation areas for peach trees are in the provinces of North China and East China, with relatively concentrated areas including Haidian District and Pinggu County in Beijing.

Peach trees like light, tolerate drought, and are strongly cold-hardy, but they are relatively afraid of waterlogging; poor drainage will cause early root decline, thinner leaves, and paler leaf color, which then leads to leaf drop, fruit drop, and gummosis, resulting in death. Therefore, strengthening management during the peach tree's growing period can promote high-quality growth and achieve a high yield.

II. Potted Peach Tree Growing Method

1. Container: potted peach trees are relatively large in size, so choose a slightly larger clay pot for growing them;

2. Soil: mix humus soil, vegetable garden soil, coal cinder, etc. in proportion to make nutrient soil for planting;

3. Transplanting: cut off the excess roots of the peach tree, then plant it in the container and fill it with nutrient soil;

4. Other management: later on, the peach tree also needs to be given sufficient watering, light, and fertilizer.

Watering: when the weather is not hot, water generally once every seven days; in summer, when the weather is hot and water evaporates relatively quickly, water generally once every three days; in autumn and winter, when it is relatively cold, reduce the frequency of watering.

The peach's required ratio of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium is about 1:0.5:1. For young trees, pay attention to controlling the application of nitrogen fertilizer, otherwise it easily causes excessive vegetative growth. After the full fruiting stage, increase the application of nitrogen fertilizer to strengthen the tree's vigor.

During the growing period, attention must also be paid to the prevention and control of pests and diseases.
