What are the key points of red-fleshed honey pomelo cultivation techniques?
Red-fleshed honey pomelo is a type of pomelo. A good red-fleshed honey pomelo is both sweet and delicious, and is also rich in a variety of vitamins. So what are the red-fleshed honey pomelo cultivation techniques?
1. Growth habits of the red-fleshed honey pomelo
The red-fleshed honey pomelo is a superior mutant variety discovered in 1988 by the Fruit Tree Research Institute of the Fujian Academy of Agricultural Sciences. The first-generation and second-generation young trees have obvious apical dominance, and during natural growth, young and middle-aged trees easily form a tree vigor that is strong at the top and weak at the bottom.
The buds of the red-fleshed honey pomelo have premature maturity. Under conditions of sufficient fertilizer and water, it can flush 4~5 times a year. Apart from winter shoots, all kinds of shoots may become fruiting mother branches, but spring shoots are the main ones. Physiological flower bud differentiation occurs from mid-September to mid-December, and morphological flower bud differentiation occurs from late December to late February; flowering begins in mid-to-late March, the full bloom period is in mid-April, and the fruit matures from early September to late October.
When planted with large seedlings, flowers can be seen in the second year, and fruit can be borne in the third year; after planting, it enters the initial fruiting period in 3~4 years, with each tree yielding more than 15kg; in 5~6 years it enters the full fruiting period, with each tree yielding 75~125kg. It matures 15~20d earlier than Guanxi honey pomelo.
2. Red-fleshed honey pomelo cultivation techniques
1. Site selection: choose a place sheltered from wind and facing the sun, with fertile, deep soil and convenient irrigation to establish the orchard;
2. Planting: generally use soil pomelo as rootstock, and the specific planting density depends on the terrain conditions;
2. Watering: water according to the growth condition of the honey pomelo, and water more in the early stage;
4. Fertilization: mainly nitrogen fertilizer, and the number of fertilizer applications can be appropriately increased, but the amount of fertilizer applied each time must not be too much.
During the growth period of the red-fleshed honey pomelo, flower and fruit management and shaping and pruning are also required. According to the growth condition of the plant, thin flowers and fruits and cut off excess, aged, and diseased branches, so that the quality of the red-fleshed honey pomelo will be better.
