How to care for the perfumed peace lily? Master these care methods
The flowers of the perfumed peace lily are large and striking, with long flower stalks that rise above the leaves, appearing white or green. It is known as the “Snow White” of plants, symbolizing purity, beauty and innocence. So, how do you care for the perfumed peace lily?
1. Soil
For potted care, mix leaf mold, garden soil and a suitable medium in a 2:2:1 ratio to meet the growing needs of the perfumed peace lily.
2. Temperature
The perfumed peace lily prefers a warm growing environment and is not tolerant of severe cold. Its most suitable growing temperature is between 20——25℃. In winter, when temperatures are lower, take care to protect it from the cold, so that low temperatures do not cause frost damage to the plant, yellowing leaves and affected growth. Keeping the temperature no lower than 5℃ allows it to overwinter safely.
3. Light
The perfumed peace lily prefers a semi-shaded growing environment, so during care do not place it in a shaded, lightless environment for long periods, nor expose it to strong direct light. Insufficient or excessive light will both affect its healthy growth: lack of light causes poor growth with thin, spindly stems and leaves, while overly strong light causes its leaves to become scorched and yellow.
4. Watering
The perfumed peace lily is fairly moisture-loving. During care, to help it grow better, make sure to keep it well watered, and in hot, dry seasons try to increase air humidity, for example by misting water around the leaves. When watering the perfumed peace lily, water only when the soil is dry and avoid severe waterlogging in the soil, otherwise its roots will rot.
5. Fertilizing
To promote rapid growth of the perfumed peace lily, we should also regularly supplement it with fertilizer during care, because plant growth consumes nutrients. Generally, during the vigorous growth period, apply fertilizer once every 10——15 days or so, mainly a dilute compound fertilizer or fully decomposed cake fertilizer water. Only when the soil nutrients are sufficient can the vigorous growth of the perfumed peace lily be supported, keeping its branches and leaves lush and green with continuous blooming. Note that in winter, when temperatures are lower and the plant grows slowly and needs fewer nutrients, fertilizing should be stopped.
The perfumed peace lily is not cold-tolerant and not tolerant of strong sun exposure, so during care, take special care to avoid direct sunlight and to provide good warmth protection when temperatures are low.
