The scientific name of Nostoc commune is Nostoc commune. It is a nitrogen-fixing blue-green alga, generally found in the wild, but because of its rich nutritional value, there are now quite a few people cultivating Nostoc commune artificially. Today I will share with you the cultivation techniques for Nostoc commune.

1. Site selection

Choose a plot with fertile topsoil within an alfalfa grassland that is more than 10 years old, and the surface layer of soil should have weeds, dead leaves, and so on. Make it as similar as possible to its wild environment, which is beneficial for later growth.

2. Planting

Cut wild Nostoc commune into small pieces of 3 cm, bury one end 2 cm into the soil, plant 50 holes per sq m, and bury an appropriate amount of air-dried Nostoc commune in each hole. After sowing, cover with a layer of sieved surface soil scraped from the surface of old alfalfa land where Nostoc commune grows easily. Before sieving, mix it evenly with thoroughly decomposed sheep manure.

3. Management

After planting, water every day, then cover with wild grass to ensure that the planting surface can both maintain a certain humidity and artificially create a certain amount of scattered light, which can greatly increase the yield.

4. Harvesting

Artificially cultivated Nostoc commune can be harvested in early spring or late autumn. When harvesting, take special care not to step on the planting holes; it can be harvested with tweezers.

Research shows that Nostoc commune contains a variety of nutrients, and its protein content is higher than that of eggs, wood ear mushrooms, and silver ear mushrooms; its total amino acid content is similar to that of fat choy and shiitake mushrooms. Therefore, Nostoc commune is a very good source of protein for the human body.
