The money tree symbolizes good fortune and is deeply loved by many people, so many grow a few of them at home, and some even place them at the entrance of their shops. So what are the indoor cultivation methods for the money tree?

Indoor money tree cultivation methods

1. Light

The money tree is a flowering plant that loves sunlight. If grown outdoors, it can be placed in an environment where it receives full sun. If grown indoors, it is not recommended to place it where sunlight shines directly on it; simply placing it in a bright spot is enough.

2. Temperature and humidity

The money tree has relatively high requirements for temperature and humidity. If the temperature is too low or the humidity is insufficient, leaf drop will occur, and in severe cases the branches will become bare, which not only detracts from its ornamental value but can also very easily cause the plant to die. Therefore, when growing it, care should be taken to maintain a temperature above 15°C and to frequently spray water on the branches and leaves to increase humidity; in late autumn and winter, care should be taken to protect it from cold and freezing over the winter.

3. Watering

The money tree is relatively drought-tolerant, so do not water it too often. If it is not the hot summer season when water evaporates very quickly, simply spraying water on the leaves of the money tree is enough; the money tree is also relatively tolerant of wet conditions, so it is not sensitive to water, and the amount of watering is unlikely to cause abnormal growth in the money tree.

4. Disease and pest prevention

During the care process, it may develop problems such as red spider mites, aphids, and leaf spot disease. When red spider mites occur, we should promptly spray acaricide. When aphids occur, nicotine can be used for treatment. When leaf spot disease occurs, protective fungicides such as carbendazim and thiophanate-methyl can be sprayed.

Notes on caring for the money tree

1. Water as soon as the soil looks dry, and water thoroughly, but remember that there must be no standing water at the bottom of the pot.

2. In winter the temperature must not be lower than 5°C, or it will damage the roots.

3. Add an appropriate amount of slow-release compound fertilizer, as this helps the plant grow, but do not add too much.
