A Detailed Guide to Red Globe Grape Planting Techniques and Cultivation Management
The Red Globe grape is also known as the Red Earth grape. It is mainly grown in Shaanxi, Xinjiang, Jiangsu and other parts of China. This variety has excellent quality, high yield and good taste. Today we will introduce Red Globe grape planting techniques.
1. Site selection
Choose flat land or small hills for planting, where the air is moderately dry and humid and there is good ventilation. The soil must have good air permeability and drainage performance, with sandy soil being best.
2. Planting time
The suitable time for planting Red Globe grapes is spring and autumn, but a reasonable density must be maintained during cultivation. If the density is incorrect, it will affect the harvest.
3. Planting
Dig a planting trench 50 cm deep and 80 cm wide. The planting depth can generally follow the depth at which the seedling grew in the nursery. The graft union should be above the ground to prevent the scion from rooting and weakening the effect of the rootstock. When planting the seedling, spread the roots naturally in all directions, fill the soil around the roots with fine subsoil, then shake gently and lift the seedling at an angle along the trellis so that the roots come into close contact with the trench soil, and then cover with 20 cm of soil. Level and smooth the entire planting strip.
4. Fertilizer and water management
In the early stage, moisture must be sufficient, and the soil should be kept moist at all times, especially during the growing period. If dry weather occurs, irrigate promptly, but also avoid waterlogging in the field. Once water accumulates, drain it promptly, otherwise the roots of the grapes will rot and mildew root problems will occur. The number of topdressings should be no less than 8 times a year, and fertilization should meet the growth needs of the grapes as much as possible.
Red Globe grapes have a series of characteristics such as tolerance to storage and transport, large berries, crisp flesh, bright color, moderate taste and high yield, so Red Globe grapes are considered one of the table grape varieties with relatively good overall traits.
