A Detailed Guide to Growing Sprouts at Home
Sprouts, also known as bean sprouts, are edible “sprouts” cultivated from the seeds of various grains, legumes and trees. They are a green vegetable that many people enjoy eating. Below is an introduction to growing sprouts at home.
1. Selecting the beans
Choose fresh soybeans or mung beans, with no damaged or moldy beans. Sun the beans in direct sunlight for 4 hours, then put the sunned beans into warm water to soak: soak soybeans for 4 hours and mung beans for 6 hours.
2. The container
Choose a container whose bottom is opaque but can drain water, such as a flower pot, and wash it clean, then lay a towel on the bottom of the container. Take the soaked beans out, put them into the container, and after placing them, cover the container with a thick opaque towel.
3. Watering
Put the container holding the beans in a warm environment of about 22°C, water several times a day to keep the humidity, but do not let water accumulate, and the water temperature for watering should not be too high, similar to the temperature inside the container. After about seven days, you can eat the sprouts.
