How to Fertilize a Bonsai Orange Tree So It Grows Well
Now many friends like growing bonsai at home, and the most familiar one is still the potted orange. Whenever the little oranges hang all over the branches, they add a certain degree of beauty to the home. So, how should a bonsai orange tree be fertilized?
1. How to fertilize a bonsai orange tree
1. Flower-promoting fertilizer: when buds appear and turn white, apply 10~25g of peanut bran with water fertilizer.
2. Post-bloom fertilizer: generally apply 10~25g of peanut bran per plant. This fertilization should be done with caution with N fertilizer; for strong trees and trees with few fruits, apply little or no pure N fertilizer.
3. When the young fruit is the size of a soybean, after the second physiological fruit drop, apply 10~25g of peanut bran per plant as fruit-strengthening fertilizer.
4. In August, apply 20~30g of peanut bran as fertilizer to promote shoots and strengthen fruit.
2. What fertilizer should be used for orange trees
(1) Fertilization principles: the needs of blood oranges for various nutrient elements should be fully met, and it is advocated to apply more organic fertilizer and to use inorganic fertilizer and formula fertilizer reasonably. Fertilization should also be guided according to leaf analysis results, orchard soil, and the phenological period of blood oranges.
(2) Fertilization methods: mainly soil fertilization, combined with foliar fertilization. Methods such as ring trench application, strip trench application, hole application, and spreading fertilizer on the soil surface are used.
(3) Fertilization for young trees: apply frequently and lightly, mainly nitrogen, combined with phosphorus and potassium fertilizer. Fertilize 5-6 times during the spring, summer, and autumn shoot emergence periods, in March, May, June, July, September, and December, applying 0.4 jin of carbon or 0.2 jin of urea per plant each time. For 1-3 year old young trees, apply 100-400g of pure nitrogen per plant per year, with a nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium ratio of 1.0:(0.4-0.5):1.0. Apply fertilizer four times a year for fruit-bearing trees, namely bud-break fertilizer, fruit-setting fertilizer, fruit-strengthening fertilizer, and post-harvest fertilizer. The application rates are generally 2-3 jin of chemical fertilizer and one load of water for bud-break fertilizer; 1-2 jin of phosphorus and potassium fertilizer + 1 jin of chemical fertilizer for fruit-setting fertilizer; 1-2 jin of chemical fertilizer + 1-2 jin of phosphorus fertilizer for fruit-strengthening fertilizer.
