Succulents are succulent plants. There are especially many types and varieties of succulents on the market, and they look extremely appealing, pink and tender, plump and chubby, especially cute. So, what precautions should be taken when growing succulents?

1. Precautions for growing succulents

1. Soil

When growing succulents, the soil must be suitable. They are not strict about soil fertility, but it must be loose, breathable and well-draining. Generally, garden soil can be used, mixed with some clean river sand, to maintain excellent drainage capacity.

2. Water and fertilizer

Succulent plants have thick leaves and stems and can store a large amount of water, so the watering frequency should not be too high. Soil that is too wet will instead cause root rot and death. Beginners can decide whether to water based on the plant's condition. If it looks a bit wilted, that means it can be watered. Succulent plants have two kinds of dormancy: summer dormancy and winter dormancy. During the dormancy period, water must be controlled. In winter dormancy, watering can be stopped. In summer, when the weather is dry, the surrounding air humidity can be maintained. If it is too dry, some water can be given at night when the temperature is slightly lower. Succulent plants are not strict about fertilizer. Some decomposed farmyard manure can be applied during the vigorous growth period in spring, following the principle of applying thin fertilizer frequently.

3. Sunlight

Plant growth requires sunlight. If you want succulent plants to grow vigorously, you must maintain sufficient light. Summer sunlight is strong. To prevent sunburn, appropriate shading can be provided, and they can receive some indirect sunlight in the morning and evening. Do not let them get sun indoors through glass, because glass blocks part of the ultraviolet rays, which is unfavorable for their growth.

4. Pests and diseases

During the growing process, keeping the soil dry and well-ventilated has a very good preventive effect on diseases. For insect pests, some flower insecticide can be bought and applied to the stems and leaves. If the pests and diseases are too severe, drugs such as carbendazim and dicofol can be sprayed.
