Now many households have the habit of growing green plants at home, which not only decorates the indoor environment but also has the effect of freshening and purifying the air. But pests on the leaves are indeed a troublesome matter, so what should be done when plant leaves have pests?

What should be done when plant leaves have pests?

If only a small number appear on the leaf surface, you can first try to pick them off the leaves, or simply cut (pick) them off. You can also mash chili peppers or garlic, add water, and spray it on the leaves, which can get rid of red spider mites and whiteflies. In addition, wiping the leaves with diluted high-concentration baijiu is also very effective for killing scale insects.

Of course, these are only some suggested treatment methods for pests on household green plants. Below is an introduction to the treatment methods for several common pests.

1. Aphids

Yellow sticky insect traps can be hung up. Be sure to choose yellow sticky traps, because aphids have a particularly strong tendency toward yellow. Apply a layer of high-viscosity insect glue to the yellow board. In severe cases, the only option is to use pesticides, such as Huahushen, imidacloprid, and pirimicarb.

Among them, imidacloprid is generally diluted about one thousand times, that is, the content of 10% wettable powder should be one gram per liter of water, and the content of 25% wettable powder should be one gram per two and a half liters of water.

2. Scale insects

Baijiu can be mixed with water at a ratio of 1:2. When treating the pests, water the surface layer of the potting soil thoroughly. Scale insects begin their activity in spring when the room temperature is 7°C. So water once in mid-April, and thereafter about once every half a month, and results will be seen after 4 consecutive times. In severe cases, pesticides can be used, such as imidacloprid (Emamectin), DX Xiaobaiyao, carbofuran, phosphorus pesticides, etc.

3. Red spider mites

If the plant has a large number of such insects, the plant should be thrown away. When individual leaves are affected, the infested leaves can be removed; when more leaves are affected, pesticides should be sprayed early for prevention and control.

Commonly used pesticides include propargite, dicofol, dimethoate, fenvalerate, etc.

4. Whiteflies

Whiteflies have a strong tendency toward yellow. In the early stage of occurrence, yellow sticky traps can be set up in the greenhouse to trap and kill the adults. You can also artificially release green lacewings; one green lacewing can prey on more than 170 whitefly larvae in its lifetime. Alternatively, pesticides such as bifenthrin emulsion (registered crop cucumber), beta-cypermethrin smoke agent (registered crop protected cultivation tomato), and beta-cypermethrin · buprofezin emulsifiable concentrate (registered crop protected cultivation tomato) can be used for control.
