Golden sedum is generally propagated by methods such as stem cuttings and division. In spring and autumn, cut off healthy branches and place them in soil; the survival rate during this period will be very high. In addition, during cultivation, as long as you pay attention to the following points, you can make your golden sedum grow into a full pot.

Care Methods for the Succulent Golden Sedum

1. Soil

Golden creeping sedum does not have high requirements for soil; sandy soil or ordinary potting soil will do. If you mix it yourself, it is recommended to use a blend of peat soil, garden soil, vegetable garden soil, organic fertilizer and a small amount of coarse sand. Those who find it troublesome can also buy nutrient soil directly from the market.

2. Light

Golden sedum has very high requirements for sunlight; under sufficient light, the plant shape of golden creeping sedum will be more compact and attractive. Apart from appropriate shading needed during high temperatures and strong sun, it can receive full-day sunlight at other times.

3. Watering

During the dormant period, golden sedum should be given as little water as possible; after water shortage, the leaves will shrink, which helps it safely get through the summer. For golden creeping sedum in the vigorous growth period, keep the potting soil moist; when watering, it should be done in moderation to avoid water accumulation, and it should not be exposed to rain for a long time. All this is to prevent the plant from rotting. Follow the watering method of “water when dry, water thoroughly when watering.” When the winter temperature is below 5 degrees Celsius or the summer temperature is above 32 degrees Celsius, the amount of watering should be controlled.

4. Pruning

Golden creeping sedum grows relatively quickly and easily fills a pot. During cultivation, promptly remove side branches that affect its appearance. When pinching the top and removing the growing tips of golden sedum, it is necessary to prune overly long branches and control the overall growth and appearance. Excess branches can also be pruned off.

5. Fertilizing

It is best to use a weak fertilizer for golden sedum, applying it once about every 20 days during the growth period.

6. Repotting

To prevent soil compaction and soil alkalinization and to increase soil air permeability and drainage, golden sedum needs to be repotted about every 1-2 years. When repotting, be careful not to damage the roots. In addition, the fleshy stems are relatively brittle and break easily, so when repotting, be careful not to break the longer branches, otherwise the ornamental value will be affected.
