Garlic is a common plant in daily life, used by almost every household every day, and some people like to grow some on their balcony. During garlic cultivation, white rot can occur, so what pesticide should be used for garlic white rot?

1. What pesticide should be used for garlic white rot?

Garlic white rot can be controlled with pesticides such as carbendazim, thiophanate-methyl, and garlic leaf green. The specific method is: in the early stage of the disease, spray 50% carbendazim wettable powder at 500 times dilution, or 50% thiophanate-methyl wettable powder at 600 times dilution, per mu. Alternatively, drench the roots and stems with 75% garlic leaf green wettable powder at 1000-1500 times dilution, applying once every 7-10 days, and 2 consecutive applications can effectively control the disease.

2. What are the symptoms of garlic white rot?

Garlic white rot mainly damages the leaves, leaf sheaths, and bulbs. When leaves are affected, the tips of the outer leaves turn yellow in streaks, gradually spreading to the leaf sheaths and inner leaves; in the later stage the entire plant turns yellow and dies, often causing patches of death in the field. When bulbs are affected, the diseased area of the epidermis shows water-soaked lesions, develops a grayish-white layer of mycelium, and the diseased area becomes white and rotted, producing small black sclerotia; the bulb turns black and rots. The underground part near the fibrous roots is affected first, with the diseased area appearing moist, then spreading upward and producing large amounts of white mycelium. Garlic white rot occurs severely in winter and spring, with an incidence rate of 10%-20%, and up to about 35% in severely affected fields.

3. How to prevent and control garlic white rot?

1. Seed treatment: Treat garlic seed with 50% thiophanate-methyl wettable powder or 50% carbendazim wettable powder before sowing. The specific method is: mix 0.5 kg of the pesticide with 3-5 kg of water, stir evenly into 50 kg of garlic seed, let it dry, and then sow.

2. Crop rotation: Because continuously cropped fields are prone to the disease, rotating continuously cropped fields with non-garlic crops 3-4 times can effectively control this disease, with obvious results and a control effect of over 90%.

3. Field management: In early spring, apply additional fertilizer to promote seedling growth, loosen the soil, drain waterlogging, and reduce water accumulation to promote garlic growth and improve disease resistance. Remove diseased plants promptly, dig them out and burn them, and strictly prohibit composting them, so as to prevent bringing the pathogen back into the field.
