1. Is the osmanthus ball an evergreen tree or a deciduous tree
The osmanthus ball is an evergreen shrub or small tree. It is an excellent landscaping tree species that combines greening, beautification and fragrance, with both ornamental and practical value. 2. Classification of osmanthus varieties
Through long-term cultivation, natural hybridization and artificial selection, osmanthus has produced many cultivated varieties. Through further investigation and sorting, 32 osmanthus varieties have been preliminarily identified. By flower color, there are golden osmanthus, silver osmanthus and reddish osmanthus; by leaf shape, there are willow-leaf osmanthus, golden-fan osmanthus, dripping-water yellow, sunflower-leaf and firewood-stalk yellow; by flowering period, there are August osmanthus, four-season osmanthus and month-after-month best, etc.
Because osmanthus has long been subjected to artificial cultivation, natural hybridization and artificial selection, it has formed rich and diverse cultivated varieties. After extensive investigation of osmanthus resources and varieties in major cities across the country, on-site recording of osmanthus flowering traits, and analysis and comparison of the traits of various types of osmanthus, relatively stable genetic traits were selected, and by traditional classification methods and applications in landscaping production, four variety groups of osmanthus were identified and sorted out.
