Thousand-Hand Guanyin is a foliage plant native to our country, also known as Dripping Lily, Dripping Guanyin, Buddha's Hand Lotus, and Arrowhead Alocasia, and is used by many as a potted plant. So how does it propagate? How should it be cared for normally?

1. How does the Thousand-Hand Guanyin plant propagate?

The Thousand-Hand Guanyin plant can be propagated by cuttings or division, and division is generally the main method used. Division is mainly carried out in spring and summer; before dividing, water the flower pot thoroughly, then disinfect the separated stem tubers and dry them in the sun. The treated stem tubers can then be planted directly in pots.

2. How should the Thousand-Hand Guanyin plant be cared for normally?

1. Soil

Thousand-Hand Guanyin prefers well-drained, fertile, slightly acidic soil. It can be grown in a nutrient soil mixed from leaf mold, peat soil, river sand and a small amount of thoroughly decomposed cake fertilizer. It can also be grown hydroponically, but care should be taken to prevent root rot and to add nutrient solution. Usually the pot is changed once every spring, and the soil can be loosened once a month to keep the potting soil in a well-aerated state.

2. Temperature

The growth temperature is 20-30 degrees, and the lower temperature can be 8 degrees. In summer, as long as the soil is moist, water will be sprayed, and it can still grow normally in shade. The winter room temperature must not be lower than 5 degrees. Dripping Guanyin is an understory plant in tropical rainforests, so its growth requires high humidity and diffused light.

3. Light

Thousand-Hand Guanyin is a shade-tolerant plant and should be placed in a cool, ventilated environment. It must not be exposed to direct sunlight, to avoid large-scale scorching of the plant.

4. Watering

If the winter room temperature cannot reach 15 degrees, watering should be controlled, otherwise it will cause the plant to rot. Under normal conditions, spraying warm water once a week can keep the leaves a dark green color.

5. Fertilizing

Thousand-Hand Guanyin is relatively fond of fertilizer. From March to October, liquid fertilizer should be applied once every half month, in which the proportion of nitrogen can be appropriately increased. If a little ferrous sulfate can be added, then the leaves will grow as large as lotus leaves, smooth and clean. When the temperature is below 15 degrees, fertilizing should be stopped.

The propagation and care of Thousand-Hand Guanyin are not very difficult, but its sap, fruit and so on are toxic, so special attention must be paid during the care process.
