Which plants spread seeds by wind? A roundup of common species
Because plants in nature cannot move, they must rely on various conditions to disperse their seeds, such as animals, wind, water and humans, so which plants spread seeds by wind?
1. Dandelion
Dandelion is a perennial herbaceous plant in the genus Taraxacum of the Asteraceae family. It is also called hua hua lang, pu gong cao, edible dandelion, bed-wetting grass, western dandelion, po po ding and so on, and its flowering and fruiting period is generally from April to October each year.
Dandelion grows widely on hillside grasslands, roadsides, fields and riverbanks at middle and low elevations. It grows in most parts of China, such as Jiangsu, Hubei, Henan, Anhui, Zhejiang, northern Fujian, Taiwan, China, Hunan, northern Guangdong, Sichuan and other places.
2. Willow
Willow is a type of plant in the genus Salix of the Salicaceae family. There are many kinds of willows, divided into dry willow, glandular willow, weeping willow and others. Willow belongs to a wide ecological range of plants and is highly adaptable to the environment; it is a mesophytic to moisture-loving tree species. However, some species are also fairly drought-tolerant and salt-alkali-tolerant, able to grow in places with harsh ecological conditions, and they grow even better on fertile plains with superior site conditions. Their lifespan is generally 20 to 30 years, and a few species can reach more than a hundred years. Their growing period within a year is relatively long, they sprout early and shed leaves late, and a few species in the south are evergreen trees.
3. Poplar
Poplar is a type of plant in the genus Populus of the Salicaceae family, divided into five major sections: the Tacamahaca section, the Populus section, the Aigeiros section, the Turanga section and the Leucoides section. Poplar trunks are generally upright, with smooth or longitudinally fissured bark that is often grayish white.
Poplar is a forest tree species scattered across the temperate and cold-temperate zones of the Northern Hemisphere. In China it is distributed between 25 degrees and 53 degrees north latitude and 80 degrees to 134 degrees east longitude, that is, across the vast regions of central China, north China, northwest China and northeast China. In other parts of the world it is generally distributed within the range of 30 degrees to 72 degrees north latitude.
4. Pine
Pine is a type of plant in the genus Pinus of the Pinaceae family, mainly divided into masson pine, Chinese pine, lacebark pine, Buddhist pine, Armand pine, Dabie Mountain five-needle pine, Korean pine, Japanese red pine, black pine, Huangshan pine and others. There are quite a lot of species, more than 80 in total, and pines also live very long lives.
