Is Mao Azalea a Deciduous or Evergreen Plant? A Full Analysis of Its Habits and Characteristics
Mao Azalea is a kind of azalea; its flowers are rose red or bright red and very beautiful. So do you know whether Mao Azalea is deciduous or evergreen?
1. Is Mao Azalea deciduous or evergreen?
If the temperature exceeds the low temperature that Mao Azalea can withstand, it will drop its leaves; if it does not exceed it, then Mao Azalea is evergreen all year round. It is an evergreen or semi-evergreen shrub.
2. Main value
When Mao Azalea is planted in large drifts, it looks as splendid as brocade when in bloom, a riot of purple and red, and can add a natural landscape effect to gardens. It can also be planted in clumps beside rocks, by pond edges and along lawn borders to add a garden atmosphere. Potted plants placed in hotels, homes and public places are brilliant and eye-catching.
3. Propagation methods of Mao Azalea
1. Cuttage: Carry it out during the plum rain season. Select semi-mature young shoots 12-15 cm long, remove the 2-3 leaves at the base, keep the leaves at the tip and cut off half of them. Treat the cuttings with a 0.8% indolebutyric acid solution for 2-3 seconds, insert them into a sand bed, keep the room temperature at 15-18°C, and they will root 50-60 days after insertion.
2. Layering: Carry it out in April-May, using the air layering method. Select 2-3-year-old mature branches, perform ring barking 20-30 cm from the branch tip, with a width of 2 cm, and wrap with leaf mold and plastic film. They will heal and root in 4-5 months, and can be cut off and potted in autumn.
3. Sowing: April is suitable, using indoor pot sowing. The optimum germination temperature is 22-24°C; they germinate 10-15 days after sowing, and the seedlings grow slowly.
Mao Azalea is a very beautiful ornamental flower and is relatively easy to grow. If you like it, you can plant it in moderation.
