What are the control methods for garlic red leaf disease?
Garlic is an edible vegetable and also a seasoning for everyday cooking. Garlic is grown in many regions of our country, so how do you treat garlic red leaf disease?
1. Basic introduction to garlic
Garlic is a plant of the Liliaceae family and the Allium genus, also called suan, suantou, dusuan, husuan, and so on. It originated on the western plateau of Asia, and in our country its main producing areas are Henan, Shandong, Jiangsu and other provinces.
Garlic prefers a cool growing environment, so when planting garlic it is best to avoid places with long periods of direct sunlight, and the planting soil should also be chosen appropriately. Sandy loam is best for garlic growth, and garlic grown in sandy soil has a stronger pungent taste.
Garlic has different requirements for soil moisture at different stages. The germination stage requires relatively high soil moisture to promote root and sprout development; during the seedling stage, water must not be excessive, to prevent the seedlings from becoming leggy and to promote vertical root growth.
2. How do you treat garlic red leaf disease?
Garlic red leaves may be caused by phosphorus deficiency, or may be caused by diseases such as white rot. If it is phosphorus deficiency, phosphorus fertilizer needs to be supplemented to the garlic in time; if the garlic red leaves are caused by white rot, you can use 50% carbendazim wettable powder diluted 500 times for spraying, with an interval of 10 days between applications.
3. Control of other garlic diseases and pests
1. Leaf blight
Before sowing, use 50% carbendazim wettable powder for seed dressing and seed soaking. When the rate of diseased leaves on the upper part of the garlic plants reaches 5%, use 70% chlorothalonil wettable powder diluted 500~600 times for spraying, once every 7~10d, for 2~3 consecutive applications.
2. Rust disease
At the early stage of the disease, use 15% triadimefon wettable powder diluted 500 times for spraying, once every 10~15d, for 2~3 consecutive applications.
3. Garlic maggot
Use 80% trichlorfon powder for seed dressing; use 90% trichlorfon powder diluted 800~1000 times for spraying to control early-stage larvae. During the peak emergence period of adults, the control method is 90% trichlorfon diluted 800~1000 times for spraying, once every 7d, for 2~3 consecutive applications for control.
