What pesticide is effective for controlling leafminer moths?
Leafminer moth is a common pest during the growing period of citrus, peach trees, and lemon. During the larval stage, it feeds on the tender stems of new shoots and forms silvery-white curved tunnels, causing new leaves to curl and harden. So what pesticide should be used for leafminer moth?
1. What pesticide is used for leafminer moth?
Leafminer moth can be controlled with pesticides such as abamectin and beta-cypermethrin, abamectin, emamectin benzoate, cyromazine, and Kunte (beta-cypermethrin and diafenthiuron). Generally, spray once every 5-7 days, and 2-3 consecutive sprays can effectively control it. When spraying, focus on the outer canopy and tender buds and shoots.
2. How to control leafminer moth?
1. Physical control
(1) In autumn and winter, all branches and shoots affected by pests and diseases should be pruned off, and all dead branches, fallen leaves, rotten fruit, and weeds in the orchard should be burned off-site. This can reduce the generation of overwintering pest sources.
(2) Bud removal and shoot control should be carried out in a timely manner at each stage, and autumn shoots should be released uniformly. A small number of late summer shoots and early autumn shoots that sprout should be removed in time. When most buds germinate, autumn shoots can be released uniformly, thereby cutting off the pest's food chain and reducing the population.
2. Chemical control
At the stage of uniformly releasing shoots, when the new shoot buds grow to about 5 mm and the germination rate is about 20%, spray immediately for protection. After that, spray at intervals of about 7 days, for 2-3 consecutive sprays.
The pesticides that can be selected include: 10% imidacloprid wettable powder 1500-2500 times dilution, or 1% abamectin emulsifiable concentrate 3000-4000 times dilution, or 5% chlorfluazuron emulsifiable concentrate 1000-2000 times dilution, or 5% flufenoxuron emulsifiable concentrate 1500-2000 times dilution, or 2.5% cyhalothrin emulsifiable concentrate 3000-4000 times dilution, or 10% bifenthrin emulsifiable concentrate 3000-5000 times dilution, etc.
