Pests are a source of great frustration for farmers, especially certain soil pests that affect plant root growth, so what pesticide should be used for soil pests?

1. What pesticide should be used for soil pests?

1. Imidacloprid: To control mole crickets, use a 10% imidacloprid 1500x solution mixed with roasted fragrant wheat bran and broadcast it as a poison bait; when adult scarab beetles (chafer beetles) emerge in large numbers, spray with imidacloprid (using one to two grams of pure active ingredient per 667 sq m) diluted in water.

2. Tiannuo Xianjing: Tiannuo Xianjing is an insecticide and nematicide with good efficacy against root-knot nematodes, root maggots, white grubs, small cutworms, mole crickets, wireworms and other soil pests on many crops. It has stomach-poison, contact-killing and fumigant action.

3. Hudijing: It can control soil pests on vegetables, melons and fruits, cotton and hemp, sugarcane, soybean and ornamental flowers. It is safe for crops and has a residual efficacy lasting up to 1 month. Apply three to four kg per 667 sq m by broadcasting or furrow application at the seedling-bed stage, and by broadcasting at the mature-plant stage.

4. Dijuling: 48% Dijuling emulsifiable concentrate can control soil pests on Chinese chives, tomato, cucumber, soybean, cotton, corn and many other crops.

2. How to control them

1. Agricultural measures. Do not apply unrotted organic fertilizer, to prevent attracting adults to lay eggs. After harvesting summer and autumn crops, or before sowing, deep plow the soil; soil pests are often turned up to the surface and die from natural enemies and environmental exposure, and pests and eggs on the surface or on weeds can also be buried in the plow layer and suffocated, reducing damage. Generally, in continuous-cropping plots or plots with large weed cover such as watermelon, sugar beet and potato, outbreaks are severe and damage is worse than in corn and legume fields, with pest populations 50%-70% higher. Therefore, in production it is necessary to deep plow and prepare the soil in a timely manner, remove field weeds, practice intercropping and relay cropping, rotate crops, and cultivate frequently.

2. Control in combination with irrigation. In plots with irrigation conditions, irrigating promptly after cutworms appear can produce unexpected results.

3. Black-light trapping. The adults of scarab beetles, cutworms and white grubs have a strong tendency toward black light. According to the actual situation of farmers, where conditions permit, set up some black lights during the peak emergence period of adults for trapping, with obvious results.

4. Biological control. You can use Haishi Jiujing, applied as a diluted root drench, with a very high kill rate.
