As soon as longan is mentioned, everyone is surely familiar with it, but as for what the tree looks like, many people are just as curious as I am, so what does a longan tree look like?

1. What does a longan tree look like?

The longan tree is an evergreen tree, with a height of about 10 m and a diameter at breast height of about 1 m. The young branches that grow out are thick and sturdy, the leaves are oblong-elliptic to oblong-lanceolate, the flowers are lanceolate and milky white, and the fruit is nearly spherical, yellow-brown or gray, with white flesh inside and a black pit.

2. How do you grow longan in pots?

1. Buy ripe longan to share with family or friends, and keep the remaining longan pits, collecting them as seeds for potting.

2. Remove the flesh and white soft tissue near the sprouting point of the longan pit completely, then wash it clean; the longan pits look like glossy black eyeballs, one by one.

3. Put them in a basin of water to soak, and the water surface must cover the longan pits. Then change the water every day and remove the impurities. After soaking like this for 4 to 6 days in a row, the outer shell of the longan pits will crack slightly, and you can see the sprouting points vaguely emerging; at this point they can be planted. After the longan pits crack, you can soak them for two or three more days to speed up the appearance of new sprouts.

4. Choose a pot with no hole in the bottom, fill it with potting soil to about 80% full, and spray some water on the surface until it feels moist. Choose longan pits with similar degrees of cracking and arrange them densely on top, then sprinkle potting soil to fill the gaps between them.

5. Spread a thin layer of small pebbles over the longan pits, press gently with the palm of your hand, and then spray water two or three times back and forth. After that, spray water once every day.
