How to Care for Echeveria 'Blood Romeo' and Points to Note
In the modern world of potted plant cultivation, succulents occupy a very significant share of the market, and the succulent family is extremely diverse. Among them, the Blood Romeo succulent is a new variety produced by crossing Echeveria 'Ebony' with Echeveria 'Romeo'. So what points need attention when cultivating Blood Romeo?
1. How to Care for Blood Romeo
1. The most important condition for cultivating the Blood Romeo succulent is to ensure sufficient light exposure. Only when the leaves receive more than 6 hours of light can they be guaranteed to be more vivid and plump. However, the light must not be too intense; diffused light or semi-shaded conditions are most suitable.
2. Blood Romeo has fleshy roots, and during cultivation its roots are very easily damaged, so it should be grown in soil made from a mix of akadama and peat. The ratio of the two soils is 2:8. Akadama is a relatively soft granular material that is unlikely to damage the roots, and the soil it forms is relatively loose with very strong drainage capacity, which can reduce the occurrence of waterlogging.
3. In summer, Blood Romeo must be moved indoors for cultivation to avoid direct sunlight. Too-strong light will scorch the leaves and cause them to turn black. When grown indoors, it should be placed near a window, and at the same time care should be taken to ventilate it regularly so that Blood Romeo has a better growing environment.
4. Blood Romeo does not require much water. In daily care, the watering frequency is generally about once a week. In summer, Blood Romeo stops growing and enters dormancy, and at this time watering should be stopped to avoid waterlogging. When watering in winter, it is enough to keep the potting soil moist.
2. The Difference Between Blood Romeo and Romeo
Blood Romeo is not Blood-Colored Romeo. It is a cross between Echeveria 'Ebony' and Echeveria 'Romeo', with obvious Ebony characteristics (black edges) as well as Romeo characteristics (red). Blood-Colored Romeo is a Romeo in relatively good condition, with colors more vivid than ordinary Romeo, but without the Ebony characteristic (black edges).
The above is some related knowledge about Blood Romeo. Succulent plants are generally very delicate and require careful attention from their owners.
