Houttuynia cordata, also known as zhe'ergen, is a plant that smells fishy and spicy and tastes crisp and tender. It can be eaten in many ways, and it is grown in many regions. However, during the cultivation of Houttuynia cordata, various diseases can appear. So how are the diseases of Houttuynia cordata treated?

1. Southern blight

Damage symptoms: It mainly harms the rhizome near the ground surface of Houttuynia cordata, and a large amount of silky white mycelial layer is produced on the surface of the diseased part.

Prevention and control methods: Use 40% Fuxing emulsifiable concentrate at 6000 times dilution, 43% Junlike suspension concentrate at 8000 times dilution, 45% Tecto suspension concentrate at 1000 times dilution, 10% Shigao water-dispersible granules at 8000 times dilution, and 50% dimethirimol wettable powder at 400 times dilution to spray and drench the rhizomes of diseased plants, nearby plants, and the soil.

2. Leaf spot disease

Damage symptoms: In the early stage of the disease, irregular or round lesions appear on the leaf surface, with purplish-red edges and grayish-white centers, with light gray mold growing on them. In severe later stages, several lesions merge together, the centers of the lesions sometimes perforate, and the leaves die locally or entirely.

Prevention and control methods: In the early stage of the disease, spray with 50% thiophanate-methyl at 800-1000 times dilution or 70% mancozeb at 400-600 times dilution, spraying once every 15 days, for 2-3 consecutive sprays.

3. Stem rot

Damage symptoms: The lesions on the stem are long elliptical or spindle-shaped, slightly water-soaked, brown to dark brown, with darker edges and obvious concentric rings, with small black spots growing on them. In the later stage of the disease, the stem rots and dies.

Prevention and control methods: In the early stage of the disease, choose 50% carbendazim wettable powder or 65% zineb wettable powder at 500-600 times dilution, or 70% thiophanate-methyl wettable powder at 800 times dilution for spraying, spraying once every 7 days, for 2-3 consecutive sprays.
