How to Treat Diseases of Winter Jujube? Detailed Explanation of Control Methods and Techniques
Winter jujube is a very common fruit, sweet and crisp in taste, and very popular. When growing winter jujube, attention must be paid to preventing certain diseases. So how do you treat winter jujube diseases?
1. Winter jujube fruit shrinkage disease
Because fruit shrinkage disease of winter jujube is mainly caused by fungal infection in the early stage, and mainly by bacterial infection when the fruit is near maturity, insecticides must be added in the later stage of control to control pests (leafhoppers, stink bugs, mites, etc.) to prevent invasion through wounds. In July, pay attention to controlling piercing-sucking pests. Lvheng No. 6 at 1000 times dilution can be sprayed twice within 8-10 days, with a control effect of over 95%. In August and September, use insecticides (such as Kung Fu, etc.) plus diniconazole at 3000 times dilution for mixed spraying, with a control effect of over 95%. You can also spray thiophanate-methyl at 800 times dilution plus streptomycin for control, and the effect is also good. Boron nutrient imbalance in winter jujube will aggravate the occurrence of fruit shrinkage disease. You can spray boron fertilizer at the flowering stage, and then from the young fruit stage onward use a mixture of fungal fungicide plus bacterial fungicide plus insecticide for control, which can also achieve a relatively good control effect.
2. Winter jujube fruit rot disease
The pathogens causing fruit rot disease are mainly fungi and bacteria, and the symptoms of fruit rot are divided into many types such as “black sore type” and “soft rot type”. The peak infection period during the growing season is from July to September, and high temperature and high humidity can cause major outbreaks of fruit rot. Control of fruit rot disease should start from the end of June to early July. You can alternately spray 70% thiophanate-methyl at 800 times dilution, 50% carbendazim at 600 times dilution, Lunwen No. 1 at 400-600 times dilution, Lixiaowei at 1500 times dilution, and Bordeaux mixture, Lvdebao, Mengshasheng and other agents for control.
3. Winter jujube anthracnose
Commonly known as burned eggplant disease and scorched leaf disease. Pale yellow to reddish-brown water-soaked spots first appear on the fruit, gradually expanding to form yellow halos; afterward the flesh turns brown or dark brown, and the pit turns black. In most cases, this disease occurs on shriveled fruit, parasitizing secondarily on diseased fruit. It can spread when there is rainfall around mid-May, and disease onset begins from late July to late August, with severe occurrence in rainy years. It can be controlled with 70% thiophanate-methyl at 800 times dilution, Fuxing at 8000 times dilution, polyoxin at 1000 times dilution plus Dasheng at 800 times dilution, or Xiansheng at 600 times dilution.
4. Winter jujube bitter pit disease
After winter jujube is affected, irregular patches of dark green or light red appear on the fruit surface, the flesh shows mealy necrosis, and the affected part of the diseased fruit is slightly sunken. This disease is mainly a physiological disease caused by calcium nutrient imbalance. During the fruit growth period, 0.2% calcium nitrate, boron-zinc-calcium, or Meiguo Four-in-One can be sprayed.
Different diseases of winter jujube have different control methods, and control work should be done well according to the actual situation.
