What to Do About Herbicide Injury to Cucumber Seedlings? Remedies and Preventive Measures
Pesticides are one of the products commonly used during crop cultivation and have greatly promoted agricultural development. However, during use, problems with phytotoxicity always arise for various reasons. So, what should be done about phytotoxicity in cucumber seedlings?
1. What should be done about phytotoxicity in cucumber seedlings?
1. If the affected cucumber seedlings have not had their growing points damaged, fertilizer and water management can be strengthened to promote rapid growth. If the sprouts and seedlings are only slightly affected, strengthen management, appropriately apply supplemental nitrogen fertilizer, and prompt the seedlings to resume early and return to normal growth. If the leaves or plants are more severely affected, irrigate promptly, apply additional phosphorus and potassium fertilizer, and cultivate the soil to promote root development and enhance recovery capacity. If the wrong pesticide was sprayed, spray a large amount of clean water to wash it off, and pay attention to drainage and irrigation.
2. If phytotoxicity in cucumber inhibits plant growth, spray gibberellin at 30-50 mg/kg, together with a 100-fold white sugar solution.
3. If leaves rapidly twist and droop, immediately spray a 100-fold white sugar water solution, which generally can quickly relieve the phytotoxicity. But if it is left alone, it generally recovers naturally in about a week. Sometimes after recovery, the plant's cucumber-setting performance is noticeably enhanced, which may be related to a period of suppressed vegetative growth.
4. For cucumber phytotoxicity caused by herbicides, if the phytotoxicity is not very serious, spray Kangbingwei or Bingdu K at a 500-fold dilution. For plants with severely inhibited growth, apply the undiluted solution to the growing points.
5. For cucumber phytotoxicity caused by other pesticides, the following pesticides are generally used to eliminate or alleviate the phytotoxicity:
(1) Spray Kangbingwei or Bingdu K, or natural brassin;
(2) Spray zinc sulfate at a 600-700-fold dilution on the leaves to prompt the plant to produce gibberellin, thereby eliminating and alleviating the phytotoxicity.
