In the process of cultivating yams, improper fertilizer and water management often causes waterlogging or drought; if nutrient supply cannot keep up during the growth period, yam yields are severely reduced, directly affecting production.

1. Timely topdressing in the late growth stage is most important. Topdressing is mainly done in the middle and late growth stages; in the early stage, less fertilizer is needed. To ensure high yam yields, generally apply topdressing 2 to 3 times. In the late growth stage, spray the foliage with Diguo Zhuangdiling + 0.2% potassium dihydrogen phosphate and 1% urea to ensure that tuber elongation and expansion have sufficient nutrients. By spraying “Diguo Zhuangdiling”, the large nutrient supply needed during the flowering and fruiting period can be met, the nutrient transport ducts in the underground part become thicker, the amount of nutrient transported is increased, and the expansion speed of the underground fruit is increased, while being efficient and non-toxic. 2. Controlling water balance is key. The aboveground part of the yam prefers high temperatures and dryness, fears frost, fears waterlogging, and is also not suitable for drought; if it is too dry, the expansion of the yam will be seriously affected. The watering time is about mid-April to late May; during this period, generally water thoroughly once about every 10 days. After late May, watering should be done appropriately according to soil moisture. Too much watering can also easily cause rust disease, causing early leaf drop and affecting root yield. It is recommended that farmers spray yams with the plant protectant Xin Gao Zhi Mo, spraying it on the leaf surface to form a protective film, known as the “plant health transparent coat”, for disinfection and disease prevention, resistance to drought and dry hot winds, and resistance to waterlogging disasters. This product works physically and will not produce drug resistance. When planting yams, special attention should be paid to the above two management tasks, increasing the amount of nutrient transported, and enhancing the resistance of yams, so that high-quality yams can be produced and economic income increased.
