Summary of Winter Field Cultivation and Management Experience for Peppers
Management before and after seedling recovery: 1. Before seedling recovery, focus on heat preservation and moisture retention. To raise soil temperature, cover with plastic film promptly after planting. If no plastic film is used, carry out intertillage. After seedling recovery and before flowering, generally do not water; water lightly only during drought. Before the rows close, earth up to protect the roots. 2. Fertilization: When peppers grow to 3 cm in size, fertilize in combination with intertillage, applying 200 g of decomposed farmyard manure and 10 kg of urea per mu. 3. Foliar feeding: Spray 100 g of monopotassium phosphate mixed with 15 kg of water on the leaves, which helps enhance photosynthesis, promote deep root growth and robust plant development, and at the same time strengthen the plants' disease resistance.
Management during the flowering and fruiting stage: 1. Spray 100 g of monopotassium phosphate plus 30 g of urea mixed with 15 kg of water on the leaves during the flowering stage, once every 10 days. 2. Water and topdress in a timely manner. Topdressing should be done after each fruit harvest, with nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium used in combination, following the principle of “light application of seedling-promoting fertilizer, steady application of flower bud fertilizer, heavy application of fruiting fertilizer” to supplement the plant's nutrition. 3. Do well in pruning, shoot removal, and earthing up: cut off inner canopy branches and old, diseased, and disabled branches. Above the 3rd-order branches, leave 2 leaves and pinch off the tips. At the same time, earth up again to promote new root growth and prevent lodging.
