What are the methods for controlling pepper seed diseases
According to experts, pepper seeds generally carry the following latent diseases: damping-off seedlings, Rhizoctonia rot, bacterial leaf spot of pepper, pepper viral disease, pepper Phytophthora blight, pepper Verticillium wilt, etc.
1. Hot water seed soaking: Soak the seeds in hot water at 60°C, with a water volume 3 times the seed volume. First pour the seeds in slowly, stirring while pouring, and when the temperature drops to 25-30°C, soak for 12-24 hours. This method has a controlling effect on seed-borne diseases.
2. Zinc sulfate seed soaking: Use a 0.20%-0.40% zinc sulfate solution, soak the seeds for 12 hours at 20-25°C. This method has an inhibitory effect on pepper viral disease.
3. Copper sulfate seed soaking: First soak the seeds in clean water for 10-12 minutes, then soak them in a 1% copper sulfate solution for 5 minutes, remove and rinse clean with water. This method can prevent sweet pepper anthracnose and bacterial angular leaf spot.
4. Carbendazim seed soaking: Soak in cold water for 3-4 hours, then transfer to a 500-fold dilution of 50% carbendazim wettable powder and soak for 1 hour, then rinse clean with water. It can kill or attenuate pepper viruses.
5. Sodium hypochlorite seed soaking: Soak the seeds in 1% sodium hypochlorite for 5-10 minutes, then rinse clean with water. It can prevent pepper Phytophthora blight, Verticillium wilt, anthracnose and other diseases.
