Sharing Experience in Rice-Black Fungus (Wood Ear Mushroom) Intercropping
Intercropping black fungus during the rice growing season: the microclimate of the paddy field can better meet the needs of fruiting body growth conditions, thus increasing black fungus yield by 1-2 times, with a yield of 250 kg per mu.
1. Fruiting temperature and humidity: black fungus is a mesophilic edible fungus. The mycelium will not die even in an environment of ±30℃, but the suitable temperature for development is 22-28℃; the suitable temperature for fruiting body growth is 20-28℃. The suitable humidity for mycelium development is 60%-75% (moisture content of the bag substrate). Excessive humidity will cause poor air permeability and insufficient oxygen, affecting mycelium development; if the humidity is too low, the mycelium will dry out and stop growing. During fruiting body growth, not only should the bag substrate have sufficient moisture, but the air humidity should also reach above 90%. When wood ear is growing, even if it is rained on all day, fruiting body growth is not affected.
2. Fruiting light: light can raise the temperature of the substrate, enabling the mycelium to grow rapidly in the substrate, and can also enhance the color of black fungus, reduce disease, and promote vigorous growth. Intercropping black fungus among rice stumps in mid-June and mid-September: at this time, the soil (water) temperature of the paddy field and the temperature, humidity and light among the rice stumps are suitable for the physiological requirements of wood ear.
1. Select a heat-tolerant strain: the fruiting bodies of amber brown wood ear can still grow normally at 36℃. Therefore, it can be selected as the production strain; intercropping among stumps in the high-temperature season is likely to succeed.
2. Selection and preparation of the rice paddy field: choose soil that easily settles after cultivation and leveling, and easily hardens into a rice paddy after field drying. Dig drainage ditches around the rice paddy field and irrigate 1.6-3.3 cm to prepare for placing the fungus sticks for intercropping.
3. Intercropping time: make the bag substrate each spring. After sterilization, mycelium germinates over 40-50 days, the mycelium intertwines, and the entire bag becomes fluffy white; poke strip-shaped fruiting holes on the top of the bag substrate, and then it can be placed for intercropping. Around June 15 for early rice fields and around September 15 for late rice fields, place the prepared fungus sticks among the stumps.
4. Water management: if the paddy field has hidden water sources, prevent the water layer from being too high and avoid submerging the fungus sticks; at this time, drain the water, control the water layer well, and achieve intermittent drying.
5. Harvesting of fruiting bodies: when the edges of the ear pieces become soft, the flesh is thick, the ear shrinks or white spore powder appears on the back, it indicates that the ear pieces are nearly mature or already mature. Regardless of size, drain the water in time and harvest early; otherwise, the ears will rot or flow, affecting the next flush of fruiting and causing reduced yield.
