Key Field Management Points 5-7 Days Before Transplanting for Dry-Raised Rice Seedlings
As one of the rice industry demonstration county projects, Dapai Village, Shangguan Town, Dali City, has a rice area of 1425 mu this year, with a yield target of 750 kg/mu. To achieve high and even higher rice yields, agricultural technicians at both the city and town levels have gone into villages and households, gone deep into the fields, and earnestly guided rice industry demonstration households and nearby farmers to actively carry out field management of dry-raised seedlings. In recent times, the focus has been on implementing field management technical measures such as scientific water control, fertilization, and control of diseases, insects, weeds, and rodents in the 5-7 days before transplanting dry-raised seedlings, ensuring the cultivation of a sufficient number of pest-free, strong seedlings with tillers, and laying the foundation for high rice yields.
1. Scientific water control
In the 5-7 days before transplanting dry-raised rice seedlings, scientific water control is still required. Even if the seedling leaves show wilting at noon, there is no need to replenish water. However, if the leaves show a “curling” phenomenon, then after 4 p.m., in combination with the topdressing of “send-off fertilizer,” apply one thorough watering, and after that no water replenishment is needed until transplanting.
2. Scientific fertilization
In the 5-7 days before transplanting dry-raised rice seedlings, scientifically apply one topdressing of “send-off fertilizer.” First, for seedlings that are not robust enough, whose growth is not strong enough, and which show signs of fertilizer deficiency, after 4 p.m., evenly broadcast 3-5 kg of urea and 0.5-1 kg of monopotassium phosphate per mu of seedling field, then immediately splash water over the seedlings so that the fertilizer fully dissolves and penetrates into the seedling field soil, to prevent fertilizer damage. Second, for seedlings that are robust, strong in growth, and normal in leaf color without fertilizer deficiency, simply after 4 p.m., use 100 g of monopotassium phosphate per mu, mixed with 60 kg of water, and spray once.
3. Scientific control of diseases and pests
To achieve high and stable rice yields, it is necessary to cultivate pest-free strong seedlings. Therefore, 5-7 days before transplanting the seedlings, spray once with “send-off pesticide.” First, per mu of seedling field, choose 150 g of 40% sulfur-based triadimefon, mix with 50-60 kg of water, and spray once, which has a good effect on controlling rice blast in seedlings. Second, per mu of seedling field, use 200 mL of Junduqing, mix with 50-60 kg of water, and spray once, which has a relatively good effect on controlling rice bacterial leaf blight. Third, per mu of seedling field, choose 50 mL of Baode, mix with 50-60 kg of water, and spray once, which has an obvious effect on controlling rice planthoppers and rice leafhoppers.
4. Carry out weed removal and rodent control work well
First, adopt manual pulling methods to thoroughly remove all kinds of weeds and seedlings infected with bakanae disease in the seedling field, to prevent the spread and harm of weeds and bakanae disease. Second, promptly place rodent-killing bait to prevent insufficient seedlings caused by rodent damage.
