How to use peanut meal fertilizer correctly? A detailed guide to its use
1. Put peanut meal powder into water and let it decompose in an oxygen-poor environment. It can be used after 2-12 months. The longer the time, the higher the degree of decomposition and maturity, and the less likely it is to burn plants. The ratio of peanut meal to water is about 1:15. When using, the liquid fertilizer must first be diluted with water; the ratio of liquid fertilizer to water is about 1:7. After application, it is best to water it in to avoid burning plants.
2. First crush the cake fertilizer, then pile it together with compost or barnyard manure for 2~3 weeks, or add decomposed human and animal excrement and urine to the crushed cake fertilizer and compost them together for 2-3 weeks. The fertilizer pile should be properly covered to prevent it from giving off an odor and attracting flies. Cake fertilizer can be used as a base fertilizer and as a top dressing.
(1) If used as a base fertilizer, it should be applied into the soil 7~10 days before sowing. In dry land, it can be applied in furrows or holes. After application, mix it evenly with the soil, and do not place it close to the seeds, so as not to affect seed germination.
(2) If used as a top dressing, it must first be fermented and decomposed; otherwise, after being applied into the soil, it will continue to ferment and generate high heat, which can easily burn crop roots. When applying it in paddy fields, drain the water first and then spread it evenly. Combined with the first weeding and soil loosening, mix the cake fertilizer thoroughly with the soil, then irrigate with shallow water after 2~3 days. In dry land, hole application or furrow application should be used.
(3) The application rate of cake fertilizer should be determined according to the level of soil fertility and the crop variety. For low-fertility soil and fertilizer-tolerant varieties, appropriately more should be applied; conversely, the application rate should be appropriately reduced. Generally speaking, for medium-fertility soil, the application rate is 30~40 kg per mu for rice; 35~45 kg per mu for corn; 60~70 kg per mu for sugarcane. Because cake fertilizer is a slow-release fertilizer, attention should be paid to applying an appropriate amount of quick-acting nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium chemical fertilizers together with it. For vegetables, because the growth period is short, the application rate should be reduced according to the specific vegetable's growth period and fertilizer tolerance.
