How to prevent wheat seedling death in winter? Keep these measures in mind
In recent years, freezing damage to wheat has occurred every year in our county. Apart from the factors of the wheat variety itself, the main cause is that winter management measures are neglected by farmers. In order to reduce the occurrence of freezing damage to wheat this year, the technical advisor specifically put forward the following technical recommendations for the project villages:
1. Choose varieties with strong cold resistance, drought resistance and salt-alkali resistance: do not plant spring or semi-winter varieties, and do not choose varieties that like water and fertilizer for dryland wheat fields; for saline-alkali land, choose salt-alkali tolerant varieties.
2. Pay attention to improving sowing quality: in particular, pay attention to the three key links of applying sufficient base fertilizer, sowing at the right time, and sowing with sufficient soil moisture. Do not sow too deep or too shallow; a depth of one and a half cun is best, and also pay attention to keeping the covering soil depth uniform so that the wheat seedlings can be neat and sturdy.
3. Strengthen seedling-stage management: adopt various measures to promote complete, uniform, even and strong wheat seedlings, achieve overwintering with strong seedlings, and improve the cold resistance and drought resistance of the wheat seedlings. Also adopt measures to promote weak seedlings and control excessive growth, preventing the appearance of late weak seedlings and excessively vigorous or spindly seedlings.
4. Do a good job of overwintering management: before overwintering, focus on timely irrigation of freezing water and supplementary application of la fertilizer.
Many years of experience have proven that as long as the above measures are conscientiously carried out, wheat seedling death during overwintering can be prevented.
