Three key points to note when applying winter manure to wheat

Weak seedlings: For wheat fields sown late, with poor soil fertility and insufficient base fertilizer, winter manure should be applied generously, mainly with quick-acting fertilizers, about 40 loads of decomposed pig and cattle pen manure per mu; or 20-25 kg of ammonium bicarbonate, or about 10 kg of urea applied as a top dressing when rain or snow falls, to promote stem growth

Weak seedlings  For wheat fields sown late, with poor soil fertility and insufficient base fertilizer, winter manure should be applied generously, mainly with quick-acting fertilizers, about 40 loads of decomposed pig and cattle pen manure per mu; or 20-25 kg of ammonium bicarbonate, or about 10 kg of urea applied as a top dressing when rain or snow falls, to promote stem growth and increase tillering. Generally, in wheat fields lacking phosphorus and potassium, the lower leaves turn yellow, the leaf tips turn red, and the tips of old leaves lose green, then necrosis follows, and the stems are thin and weak. For this, phosphate and potassium fertilizers should be applied, with 25 kg of superphosphate per mu, 5-6 kg of potassium fertilizer, or 100-150 kg of plant ash. Plant ash can absorb heat, keep warm and prevent freezing.

Luxuriant seedlings  For wheat fields with sufficient base fertilizer, fertile soil, early sowing and vigorous growth, the amount of winter manure should be controlled, chemical fertilizers should be applied sparingly or not at all, and pond mud and other soil manure should be the main application. Combined with compaction, measures should be taken to control vigorous growth and promote sturdiness, and to control the top while promoting the bottom, improving the overwintering environment for wheat. For false luxuriant seedlings with few tillers and slender leaves, thinning should be done promptly to prevent the population from becoming too large, and deep intertillage can also be carried out.

Strong seedlings  For strong seedlings with green leaves, a heart leaf yellow within green, glossy wheat seedlings when viewed from a distance, early sowing, sufficient base fertilizer and sufficient soil moisture, some fertilizer may be applied appropriately, mainly soil manure, and combined with compaction, about 25 loads of human and livestock manure and urine per mu should be applied as a top dressing to supplement the nutrients needed for wheat seedling growth.
