What are the seed treatment techniques before sowing wheat?
Disinfecting wheat seeds before sowing can kill various pathogens attached to the wheat seeds, such as smut, Fusarium head blight, rust, and powdery mildew, and can increase the germination rate of wheat seeds, making the wheat seedlings robust, emerging early and growing quickly, and helping achieve high yields.
Sunning seeds Before sowing, choose a sunny day with high temperature and sun the seeds for 1-2 days, which both removes mustiness and sterilizes them, and can also sun-kill various pests. But note: when sunning seeds on plastic sheeting or an earthen wheat yard, do not place them on a cement drying yard to sun.
Chemical seed dressing 15-20 days before sowing, dress the seeds with triadimefon, which can suppress the occurrence of diseases such as rust and powdery mildew. For each kilogram of wheat seed, use 2 grams of triadimefon, stir thoroughly with a seed dresser, then seal and pile for 1-2 days.
Variable temperature treatment First put the wheat seeds into hot water at 50°C-55°C and soak for 10 minutes, scoop them out and immediately put them into cold water to soak for 5 minutes, then put them into hot water at 50°C-60°C. Repeat this several times, from hot to cold, then from cold to hot, so that the pathogens die because they cannot adapt to the rapidly changing water temperature, and finally scoop them out and dry them in the shade until sowing.
Lime water seed soaking About 8 days before sowing, use 1 kilogram of quicklime water; first dissolve it with a small amount of clean water, then put it into a vat or wooden barrel, then add 100 kilograms of clean water, stir thoroughly, and soak 60-70 kilograms of seeds. After soaking for 24 hours, scoop out the wheat seeds, wash them clean with clean water, and dry them in the shade until sowing. With this method, note: the lime should be new white lump lime, and it is not suitable to use scattered lime that has been stored for a long time or has absorbed moisture and disintegrated. During seed soaking, do not stir, so as to avoid destroying the lime film layer formed on the water surface (this film layer can isolate air and cause the pathogens on the wheat grains to die from lack of oxygen), which would affect the effect.
