The mid-to-late growth stage of wheat is a critical period for yield formation and also a peak period for various pests and diseases. Doing a good job of field management during this period is crucial for ensuring a bumper wheat harvest. In recent years, the “one spray, three preventions” technique has been widely adopted in mid-to-late stage wheat management. It refers to mixing insecticides, fungicides, micro-fertilizers, drought-resistant agents and other substances with water and spraying the mixture, which can simultaneously achieve the goals of preventing and controlling wheat pests and diseases, preventing hot dry winds, preventing lodging and increasing grain weight, thereby boosting yield and income.

Wheat in our province will successively enter the booting and heading stages from south to north, and the “one spray, three preventions” technique can be applied, with emphasis on preventing and controlling diseases and pests such as fusarium head blight and ear aphids.

Fusarium head blight  Also known as wheat ear blight, rotten wheat head, red wheat head. Wheat is susceptible to damage from the seedling stage to the heading stage, mainly causing seedling blight, stem base rot, stalk rot and ear rot, among which ear rot is the most serious. To prevent and control wheat fusarium head blight, the key is to apply medication preventively during the heading and flowering stages of wheat. At the early flowering stage, choose carbendazim, thiophanate-methyl, prochloraz and other chemicals for spraying, and simultaneously spray Yongye Life Element at 500 times dilution; repeat the treatment once after 5-7 days.

Aphids  At the seedling stage, control is needed when there are 30-60 aphids per sq m; at the booting stage, control is needed when the rate of aphid-infested plants reaches 15% or when there are about 10 aphids per plant on average. You can choose imidacloprid, acetamiprid, carbosulfan and other chemicals for spraying, while simultaneously spraying Yongye Life Element at 500 times dilution.

Timing of the “one spray, three preventions”:

Wheat booting and heading stage: mid-to-late April to early May. At this time, temperatures are high and humidity is great, making it a peak period for pests and diseases, so prevention and control should be emphasized.

Wheat grain-filling stage: mid-to-late May. This is a critical period for yield formation. Combined with pest and disease control, spraying foliar fertilizer can prevent hot dry winds and increase grain weight.

When adopting the “one spray, three preventions” technique, the following points should be noted:

1. Strictly prohibit the use of highly toxic and high-residue pesticides.

2. Select suitable pesticides according to the occurrence characteristics and trends of pests and diseases, use scientific formulas, and spray evenly.

3. When spraying during the heading and flowering stages of wheat, avoid the flowering and pollination period.

4. Strictly observe safe pesticide use operating procedures, take protective measures, prevent personnel poisoning, and properly clean spraying equipment.

How to use Yongye Life Element on wheat:

Seed dressing method: Mix 70-100 ml of Yongye Life Element with 1.5 kg of water to dress 30 kg of seed, then pile and cover for 2 hours, spread out to dry, and sow. Dressing seeds with Yongye Life Element can increase the germination rate of wheat, ensure uniform germination and strong sprouts, and improve seed disease resistance.

Foliar spraying periods and effects: Spraying Yongye Life Element at 500 times dilution at the wheat jointing stage can prevent lodging and promote robust plant growth. Spraying Yongye Life Element at 500 times dilution at the booting stage can promote uniform heading of wheat, enhance the plant's disease resistance and lodging resistance, promote robust growth of wheat plants, and increase ear length. Spraying Yongye Life Element at 500 times dilution at the early grain-filling stage can enhance the plant's lodging resistance and resistance to hot dry winds, promote full wheat grains, and increase the 1000-grain weight.
