Experience in corn cultivation with plastic film mulching, suitable for corn fields in mountainous areas
In response to the relatively severe drought in Taiyi Township, Dali City since last year, adopting plastic film mulching cultivation is an effective way to ensure drought resistance, seedling survival and increased income for corn. Corn plastic film mulching has the following effects: (1) Temperature increase: daily temperature increases by 3.9°C at the seedling stage, 3.3°C at the jointing stage, and 1.3°C at the tasseling stage, with a relatively high effective accumulated temperature. (2) Moisture retention: the soil moisture content of corn covered with plastic film is higher than that in the open field, and its water storage capacity is strong. (3) Increase field light intensity. (4) Suppress weed growth. (5) Increase yield: an increase of 50--70 kg per mu.
1. Cultivation requirements:
1. Choose good plastic film: use 0.008 mm plastic film, with a film width of 60 cm or 70 cm, and a dosage of 2.5 kg per mu.
2. Finely prepare the land and remove the root systems of previous crops such as beans and wheat. Apply sufficient basal fertilizer: 1000-1500 kg of farmyard manure per mu, 10 kg of urea, and 30 kg of ordinary calcium superphosphate.
3. Level the land and sow in wide and narrow rows, with wide rows of 60 cm and narrow rows of 40 cm.
2. Cultivation methods:
1. Follow the order of sowing first and then covering with film. Sow 2--3 seeds per hole (to ensure uniform and complete seedlings, so as to facilitate thinning), with a plant spacing of 7--8 cun, and cover with soil firmly.
2. Before covering with film, spray pesticides such as Decis or Kung Fu to control underground pests.
3. Cover with film.
4. Guide seedlings out of the film. After 7 days of sowing, check in time to guide seedlings out of the film, cover with soil, and fill in exposed areas.
3. Management measures:
1. After the seedlings of film-mulched corn emerge, spray pesticides in time to control cutworm damage, and thin seedlings at the 3-leaf stage and finalize the seedlings at the 5-leaf stage.
2. Fertilization: at the 6.5-leaf to 7-leaf stage, make holes and apply 20 kg of urea per mu as a top dressing, then cover with soil firmly; when the corn plants enter the 10.5?D11-leaf stage, remove the film in time and apply 30 kg of urea as a top dressing, combined with heavy hilling.
