How to cultivate and manage roses? Sharing growing experience
Cultivation site: Roses like a cool growing environment with sufficient light, and there should be at least 6 hours of sunlight per day to produce high-quality flowers. Their optimum growing temperature is 15-25°C. If the temperature is too high, it is less suitable for rose growth. In addition, good ventilation is also quite important. A stuffy, humid, and poorly ventilated environment can easily cause rose plants to suffer from various diseases, such as black spot and powdery mildew. At present, there are generally two types of growing sites: garden and balcony. For gardens, generally plant in a place with good sunlight, with accumulated sunny time in the morning of at least 2-5 hours; choose a site with good drainage and ventilation; before transplanting, thoroughly mix in leaf mold or compost. For balconies, generally take effective drying measures; lay down blinds, and do not place flower pots directly on concrete; prevent drainage ditches from clogging or leaking, and also consider nearby residents; place them in a location with 2-5 hours of morning sunlight.
Soil: Soil suitable for rose growth must have these 3 major points: loose, well aerated, and well drained. For potting soil, sandy loam, osmunda fiber, and vermiculite can be used in equal parts. For roses grown in open ground, be sure to choose a location that does not accumulate water, and loosen the soil before planting. For garden planting, in order to improve the condition of the garden soil at transplanting, dig a hole at the transplanting site, remove poor soil, and in the dug hole mix in red jade soil with granular structure, leaf mold, and dried cow manure. In places where roses have been planted before, transplanting new roses may worsen the growth and development of the roses. In this case, replace with completely new soil. For pot planting, use soil made by mixing red jade soil with leaf mold and dried cow manure. The mixing ratio is as follows: 60% red jade soil, 20% leaf mold, 20% dried cow manure. If using commercially sold rose growing medium, it is simple and easy. It can also be used directly; in order to further improve air permeability and drainage, if 20-30% red jade soil is mixed in for water retention, the soil can reach the best condition.
