Management Methods and Care Tips for Hydroponic Orchids
I. Correctly Applying Orchid Solution
The interval between adding orchid solution is generally 15-20 days, and 30-40 days during the dormant period. To ensure the accurate amount of solution applied, a syringe can be used to measure the liquid. Orchid growth can be divided into three stages. The first stage: the orchid is pulled from the soil, washed clean, and transplanted to hydroponics until white new roots grow; this stage is called the "adaptation period." During the adaptation period, apply only 0.4CC-0.5CC of orchid solution per pot each time. The second stage: when the new roots come into contact with the planting water, it is called the "normal growth period," and the amount of solution applied each time is 1CC-3CC. The third stage, the dormant period, the amount of solution applied each time is 0.4CC-0.5CC.
II. Replacing the Planting Water
During the growth process of the orchid, the growth metabolites of the root system fall off into the planting water, and over time the planting water appears dirty. In order to keep the water clean, rinse the whole plant and replace the planting water at any time; after changing the water, the solution must be added again.
III. Preventing Growth in the Planting Water in Summer
Any one of the following methods can achieve the goal: 1. Cover the inner sieve fully with the stones or sponge used to fix the plant, to prevent insects from entering. 2. Use the method of replacing the planting water, changing it once every fifteen days. 3. Use an insect-killing spray to spray a small amount of mist into the planting water in the pot, taking care not to cause burning damage to the plant.
The hydroponic method for orchids is only a reform of the planting method; it does not change the orchid's ecological habits. Orchids prefer cool, shady, and ventilated conditions. The growth temperature is between 18 and 28 degrees. In summer and early autumn, more shading is needed, with light intensity of about 50%. In late autumn, stronger light should be given to promote full growth and more flowering. When displayed in a room or hall, keep the air circulating and the light must be bright. Avoid placing them in places with cooking fumes or polluted air. In summer, in an indoor environment with air conditioning equipment, orchids will grow even more vigorously.
