Detailed Explanation of Technical Requirements for Harvesting Fresh Lemons
1. Harvesting of spring flower fruit begins around October 1.
2. Do not irrigate the orchard within 5 days before harvest, do not apply nitrogen fertilizer for 20 days, and do not apply pesticides for 30 days, to ensure that lemons are harvested outside the safe interval period.
3. Do not harvest on overcast or rainy days, in dense fog, or in the morning before the dew has dried.
4. Harvesters, bag removers and graders must trim their nails, wear gloves, not drink alcohol before work, not smoke during work, handle fruit gently, and avoid bruising the surface as much as possible.
5. When harvesting, gently support the fruit with one hand and use scissors with the other hand to gently cut off the fruit stalk. Handle gently and transport carefully to prevent compression damage, bruising and puncture wounds.
6. After the fruit is picked, put it into a suitable container, and the container should be lined with soft padding; the fruit should not be packed too deep to prevent compression damage.
7. All personnel should promptly remove diseased, deformed and damaged fruit as soon as they are found.
Notes for harvesters:
1. Cooperative personnel shall notify harvesting households one day before harvest to make preparations (nails must be trimmed short), ensuring that the fruit surface is not scratched and improving the qualification rate of commercial fruit; the containers used for harvesting (generally back baskets) must be lined with soft padding to ensure that the fruit surface is not scratched.
2. When harvesting, every fruit must be placed gently, released within a distance of 10cm; the back basket should not be filled too deep, so as to avoid compression damage to the fruit, and cooperative personnel are responsible for supervision.
3. When carrying to the fruit sorting area, place and pour gently to prevent the fruit from being bruised by falling, and cooperative personnel are responsible for supervision.
4. Do not drink alcohol before harvesting, and do not smoke or drink alcohol during harvesting. When cooperative personnel notify fruit farmers one day before harvest, they should explain that drinking alcohol before harvest is not allowed, in case individual farmers drink alcohol at breakfast.
