In the late growth stage of cotton, root activity gradually declines and absorption weakens, and applying boll fertilizer to the soil is too late to meet the nutrient needs of boll growth. At this time, spraying foliar fertilizer can supplement nutrition, and it has the effects of preventing premature aging, preventing disease, promoting large bolls, promoting early maturity, and striving for high quality, with remarkable effects in increasing yield and income.

1. Spray nitrogen to prevent premature aging. In the late growth stage of cotton, foliar spraying of nitrogen nutrition can keep cotton leaves green, enhance photosynthesis, and prevent nitrogen-loss premature aging. When mixed and sprayed with regulator 802, the effect of enhancing the cotton's stamina is more obvious and the effect is better. From late August to early September, spray 75 kg per mu of a mixture of 400-times urea and 4000-times 802, spraying once every 5—7 days, for 2—3 consecutive sprays.

2. Spray potassium to prevent disease. When cotton lacks potassium, red leaf stem blight is likely to occur during the flowering and boll-setting stage. After the disease occurs, cotton leaves turn red or yellow, become thick, wrinkled, and brittle, and finally fall off, causing premature aging of the cotton plant and can cause serious yield loss. Per mu, use 0.3% monopotassium phosphate, or 1% potassium chloride solution, or add 100-times urea solution 75 kg for foliar spraying, spraying once every 5 days, for 3 consecutive sprays, which can make cotton leaves turn green quickly.

3. Spray phosphorus to promote early maturity. Spraying phosphate fertilizer in the late growth stage of cotton can promote full seeds, increase boll weight, and advance boll opening. Generally starting in late August, use 75 kg per mu each time of 2% superphosphate soaking filtrate, or supplement with 0.3% monopotassium phosphate solution.

4. Spray boron to promote large bolls. When cotton lacks boron, it is prone to bud drop, causing buds without flowers or flowers without fruit, small bolls, and low yield. Starting from boll setting, spray once every 15 days, for 3 consecutive sprays, using 75 kg of 0.2% borax solution each time.

Foliar spraying of fertilizer should be done evenly before 9 a.m. or after 5 p.m. on sunny days to improve fertilizer efficiency.
